Reigns – Long may he reign
Since I first started the Reigns game, I knew I was done! Everything became grey and boring in comparison with this great game. From the first sight, it may be simple and even easy. But don’t be so fast! As you go on playing you realize how deep and versatile it is. You will need not only to memorize how your choices influence the game but to think whether they are appropriate in your current situation. But let’s start from the very beginning.
Reigns is an indie RPG adventure with elements of simulation. You start as a King of an unpredictable kingdom. The only thing that you will have to do in this game is to make a right decision. Your hero will face a specific situation and will have two options. All your decisions will influence four main aspects of a kingdom: church, people, army, wealth. Your task is to find a balance between all of them.
As you may guessed the influence of your decisions is shown with circles above each aspect. Generally, you have to guess will your decision increase or decrease the power of an aspect depending on a situation, of course. But sometimes, if you are lucky, you will get a possibility to see the actual influence of your decision.
Also, you will be given three quests, that may remain until you complete them. As a reward, you will get new cards and characters which mean your game changes and has new varieties of game’s paths. Isn’t it awesome?
Speaking about effects on your game line. Sometimes you meet special people or powers that will give you some artifacts/buildings (those are shown under the card, you can have only four of them at once) or even change your kingdom.
And my favourite. In Reigns you can even fight and explore dungeons. It’s really interesting and tense. Besides, to win in a fight you need to be really smart and observant. It may look simple to you, but believe me, it’s not! You can see the fight progress over the card (I won this one, by the way).
You can be the greatest King of all time but the end is always the same: you die. The interesting part is how you die! All your decisions influence your death as well. You can be turned apart by dogs, or slained by your loving son, or die peacefully in your bed. Literally, everything depends on you!
Preview your stats
I would like to share my personal stats in the Reigns with you. So, I can say that now I am in the middle of the game. And that’s great! Therefore, I really enjoy Reigns and don’t want to finish it already.
Remember I told you about the deaths and their great variety? Here is a proof. There are 26 possible deaths in the game and I’ve opened only 6 of them. Can’t wait to see all of them!
And the last but not the least great thing about the Reigns. When you die you don’t have to start all over again. Well, in some way yes, but not totally. After the King is dead there is always another one! Besides, the kingdom remains the same. It means that you will play as a next King, but all buildings and effects (to the kingdom) will stay the same. Again, isn’t it awesome?
Moreover, the Reigns is really cheap and available on Steam, enjoy!
