A Guide to Fire Giants in OSRS

Everything you need to know about Fire Giants

Old School RuneScape is a large game with a variety of different enemies. All of them have different stats that you need to be aware of. Some even have unique mechanics associated with them. However, this usually only applies to boss-type monsters. With so many different enemy types, a lot of players are always looking for the most effective strategy to fight them.

The same goes for Fire Giants. Fire Giants are a popular enemy to farm due to them being decently easy to kill. Not only that but, you might have a Slayer task for them. Defeating them will give you a good chunk of XP as well. This guide will go over all of the stats for this enemy. You will know what loot they drop and what strategy is best for taking them down.

Without further ado, let’s jump into everything you need to know to take down these enemies.

Why You Should Defeat Fire Giants

Defeating Fire Giants is a popular task that many players do. This is because Fire Giants aren’t hard to kill. They are only a problem if you aren’t prepared, but we will help you with that shortly. The main reason players like to slay Fire Giants is because they yield a decent amount of OSRS gold and XP per hour.

Sadly, Fire Giants aren’t valuable if you are looking to get more loot. They do have some items that might prove useful early on but aren’t a necessity. Whatever you acquire from them will be outclassed sooner or later. Continue below to see some of their more notable drops.

Fire Giant Locations

These humanoid fire elementals can be found in a lot of dungeons in Old School RuneScape. Depending on which area you go to, you might find more than you have bargained for. But if you can take them on, you will get a nice rate of XP by killing them quickly.

There are 3 major locations that are the most popular area for Fire Giants. These 3 locations are Brimhaven Dungeon, Catacombs of Kourend, and Waterfall Dungeon. You are sure to find Fire Giants at these locations.

However, there are many other locations as well. Fire Giants can be found at the following locations:

  • Brimhaven Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Stronghold Slayer Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Deep Wilderness Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Karuulm Slayer Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Smoke Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Waterfall Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Isle of Souls Dungeon (Level 86)
  • Catacombs of Kourend (Level 104, 109)
  • Giants’ Den (Level 104, 109)

Fire Giant Stats

Below you will see a list of stats for the Fire Giants. Fire Giants do have decent combat stats, however, they have exceptionally low defense. They are weak to all damage types. This makes fighting them much easier because any build can defeat them. So you can feel free to slay them with magic, ranged, or any melee type. They are a little bit weaker to stab weapons though. There is one catch though.

The level 104 Fire Giants have higher defenses and resistances. You will only run into level 104, and level 109 Fire Giants, in the Giants’ Den and Catacombs of Kourend. So if you steer clear of these areas, you won’t have to deal with them.

Combat Info

  • Combat level: 86/104/109
  • Max hit: 11/10/13
  • Weakness: Stab, Ranged, Magic

Combat Stats

  • Hitpoints: 111/130/150
  • Attack: 65/65/90
  • Strength: 65/65/80
  • Defense: 65/120/65
  • Magic: 1/1/1
  • Ranged: 1/1/1

Strategies Against Fire Giants

The best strategy to deal with Fire Giants is to use safespots. Safespots allow you to attack from a safe area where you can’t take damage from that monster. Luckily, there are a few areas that allow you to take advantage of this. The Waterfall Dungeon, Stronghold Slayer Cave, Catacombs of Kourend, and The Giants’ Den have a good amount of safespots.

However, if you are well geared, you could just face tank them and use melee to do the most damage. Since they are weak to everything, you still do a good amount of damage even with medium gear.

General Items To Consider

Here are just some notable gear that will work just fine for taking them down. Most of the gear listed will be easy enough to obtain, but it might take time, depending on what quests you have completed.

  • Xerican Robes
  • Amulet of Magic
  • Snakeskin Set
  • Magic Shortbow
  • Dragon Scimitar
  • Adamant Set

Notable Drops

There are some notable drops that you should be aware of. The following items are some notable items that Fire Giants drop:

  • Big Bones (100% Drop Chance): Not worth anything too much, it is best to sell for extra OSRS gold.
  • Rune Scimitar: A decent weapon for mid-level, but there are better options.
  • Fire Battlestaff: A magic staff that will boost some stats slightly.

Conclusion

In short, if you are looking for a decent method to increase Slayer XP and OSRS GP per hour, then constantly killing Fire Giants is an acceptable method for doing so. Once you learn their tactics as well, you should have no problems taking them down. Even with low-level gear, you can slay them easily, but it will require a bit more movement or using safespots. There are also Slayer tasks associated with them so you may need to do them one way or another.
