Animal Crossing Flea Market Event Guide

Animal Crossing has got a lot of events that take place in a particular season/time or a particular area. Flea Market is a special event that occurs in Wild World or City Folk at different times. In this guide, we will explain what this Animal Crossing Flea Market event is and how to take part in it.

What is Flea Market?

Animal Crossing Flea Market is an event that occurs on weekends. There you will see animals from different towns selling their goods. Although some of their furniture isn’t for sale for various reasons. Many animals choose to sell items at a raised amount.

You can also sell your personal belongings to other players. The villagers can enter your house and leave when you do. But eventually, come back when you are at home. Items or creatures that a villager buys from the player’s house usually will be displayed in their house the next day.

When does Flea Market start?

It has particular time marks to occur. Flea Markets are held usually on Sundays (except in Wild World, where they are held on Saturdays) but if the player is ahead of a scheduled Flea Market (due to a time-warp), then time-warps back in time, the Flea Market will be set to the next day (like a lot of other events).

1st Saturday of the month in Wild World (except January and August),
4th Sunday of the month in City Folk.

As you can see there are different dates for Wild World and City Folk. Keep that in mind. Also, Flea Market is not present in New Leaf. It is because Re-Tail acts like a Flea Market as villagers and the player can place items where anyone can buy them, including the villagers themselves.

How to participate in Flea Market?

You can place items for sale in your house and the villagers or players will enter and buy your things. You can visit other houses and buy something for yourself as well.

When the player is buying from villagers, the player can either take the given price or leave it. If one of them is buying from the player, however, they will haggle by saying the price is too high, and the player will have to lower it for them to buy it.

A villager will buy a max of three items from the player’s house. However, if the player goes into a different room without leaving the house, and then goes back to where the villager is, it resets it so that the villager will buy another three items. This can be repeated indefinitely. The maximum acceptable price they will pay is a little over twice the selling price to Tom Nook, which means for furniture, they will sell for half the buying cost. If the player has bugs in their house, the same rule applies, twice the selling price. So if the player stocks up on high priced fish/insects before or during a flea market day, the player can make the double amount of Bells by placing them in their home and coaxing the villagers toward the creature.

One interesting tip. If you want to prepare your house and place your goods for sale and don’t want anyone to enter, switch off the lights. If it is dark at your place villagers will not know you are at home and will not enter.
