Heroes of the Storm Maiev Build Guide

Maiev is a Melee Assassin Hero from the Warcraft universe. She is a very mobile hero who has a good set of skills that will be useful in any situation. She is excellent at initiating teamfights, and also has high damage, thanks to the AoE damage from skills. At the same time, she stands well in the lane and can very quickly pick up a neutral Mercenary Camp, which allows her to also play aggressively and skillfully gank enemy heroes. At the same time, it is very difficult to catch her herself, since she has excellent skills to escape from pursuit.

Maiev - The Warden

Primary Abilities

Fan of Knives

Deal 152 damage to enemies in a crescent area. Hitting at least 2 enemy Heroes with Fan of Knives reduces its cooldown to 0.5 seconds, and refunds its Mana cost.

Umbral Bind

Maiev's next Basic Attack cleaves and applies a tether to enemy Heroes hit for 2.5 seconds. If a tethered Hero moves too far from Maiev, they are pulled toward her, dealing 110 damage and breaking the tether.

Spirit of Vengeance

Send a shadow of Maiev outward that will return to its cast location, dealing 150 damage to enemies along both paths. If an enemy Hero is hit, reduce the cooldown by 4 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

Containment Disc

Throw a glaive in the target direction. If an enemy Hero is hit, Containment Disc can be reactivated to remove their vision and Time Stop them for 4 seconds. Containment Disc automatically activates 6 seconds after hitting a Hero.

Warden's Cage

Summon 8 Warden Avatars as a cage around Maiev. After 1.5 seconds, enemy Heroes that come in contact with an Avatar consume it and are knocked to the center of the cage. Warden Avatars last 5 seconds.

Useful Strategies and Tips

Fan of Knives short cooldown and lack of Mana cost while hitting at least 2 enemy Heroes make this skill a great AoE skill for teamfights. It also helps Maiev to quickly clear Mercenary Camps and wave clearing.

Umbral Bind allows you to hold enemy heroes or initiate a fight with the help of a combo – casting Spirit of Vengeance behind your back and attacking the hero along with Umbral Bind. Then, by swapping in places with the shadow from Spirit of Vengeance ability, you draw an enemy hero, which will allow your team to quickly kill him.

Spirit of Vengeance is a great skill for getting out of dangerous situations or initiating. However, remember that Blink cannot be used if Maiev is under effects such as Root, Silence or Stun.

Warden’s Cage is an effective ability to cut off an enemy hero from the team, which works perfectly with the Spirit of Vengeance and Umbral Bind combo.

Containment Disc allows you to take out the enemy hero of their teamfight for a pretty decent amount of time. Ideal targets would be dangerous heroes or Healers, or to prevent channelling Heroic skills.

Vault of the Wardens, with the correct use of this skill, you will be able to evade the dangerous skills of enemy heroes, as well as engage without the danger of being controlled.
