Last Epoch Respec Guide: How to Modify Your Build and Make the Right Choices

In the world of Last Epoch, building your character and making the right choices for your playstyle is crucial. However, there may come a time when you want to make modifications or even completely change your build without starting a new character. This is where respeccing comes in. Respeccing allows you to tweak your build until it’s just right or try something new. In this comprehensive Last Epoch Respec Guide, we will cover everything you need to know about respeccing, including what can be respecced, the process for respeccing skill trees and passive points, and the costs involved.

When it comes to respeccing in Last Epoch, there are two areas where you might want to make changes: your skill trees and your passive points. Each of these areas has its own unique process and cost associated with respeccing.

Skill Trees Respec

In Last Epoch, each skill has its own skill tree, and each skill gains experience and levels independently. As you level up, you will earn skill points that can be invested in your skill tree, up to a maximum of 20 points. Additionally, you can also equip gear that provides additional points to invest in specific skills.

Respeccing Gear Points

If you have invested points in a skill through gear, you can immediately reinvest those points back into the skill with no consequences. It’s similar to taking off the gear and putting it back on. There is no cost or penalty associated with respeccing gear points.

Respeccing Leveling Points

Respeccing skill points earned through leveling is a bit more complex. Each skill in Last Epoch has a minimum specialized level, which determines the number of points that can be respecced without any consequences. When you respec below this minimum specialized level, the points are immediately returned to be respent into the skill.

The minimum specialized level starts at 1 and increases as you level up, with a maximum of 10. Any points invested above the minimum specialized level will need to be re-leveled. This means that if you respec those points, you will lose the progress you made towards leveling them.

To respec a skill in Last Epoch, open your skills & specializations tab (usually accessed by pressing ‘s’) and select the skill you want to respec. Click the ‘Respec’ button in the upper right-hand corner and choose the ‘Remove Points’ option. You can then click on nodes in the skill tree to remove points one at a time.

Note: You won’t be able to remove points from nodes that are connected to other active nodes and would make that node unusable. For example, if you have points invested in a node that requires 3 points from a previous node, you will not be able to respec below 3 points in the previous node.

If you want to remove all points from a skill and start fresh, you can select the “Despecialize Skill” option instead of “Remove Points.” This will open the specialization slot, allowing you to reselect the skill with no points invested in the tree. Similarly, if you want to select a different skill entirely, you can use the “Despecialize Skill” button and then choose a new skill from your specializations bar.

Respeccing Skill Trees

Skill trees in Last Epoch offer a wide range of customization options for each skill. Respeccing your skill trees allows you to make adjustments to your build without having to create a new character. Here’s how you can respec your skill trees:

  1. Open your skills & specializations tab by pressing ‘s’.
  2. Select the skill you want to respec.
  3. Click the ‘Respec’ button in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. Choose the ‘Remove Points’ option.
  5. Click on nodes in the skill tree to remove points one at a time.
    • Note: You can only remove points from nodes that are not connected to other active nodes and would not make the node unusable.

If you want to start fresh with a specific skill, you can select the “Despecialize Skill” option instead of “Remove Points.” This will open the specializatio

Passives Respec

In addition to skill tree respecs, you can also respec your passive points in Last Epoch. Passive points are earned through leveling and quests, and they can significantly impact your character’s build. To respec passive points, you need to visit an NPC named Chronomancer Lerinne. She can be found in either The End of Time or The Council Chambers and is represented by an icon of a head with a visible brain on the minimap.

Talking to Chronomancer Lerinne opens a dialogue box that offers the option to “Respecialize Mastery Point Allocations.” Selecting this option allows you to open your passive tree and choose which passive points you want to remove. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when respeccing passives:

  • You can only remove points one at a time, and each removal will cost you gold. The amount of gold required is determined by the number of points you have invested in that node. Removing points from nodes with more points invested will cost more than nodes with fewer points.
  • You cannot remove points from nodes if it would cause invested nodes from higher up in the tree to no longer meet point requirements. For example, if a node you have invested in requires a total of 35 points in the tree, you will not be able to remove any points below that node if it would result in having only 34 points invested below it.
  • If you have any points in a Mastery Tree, you cannot remove more than 20 points from your Base Class tree.

Once you have respecced your passive points, you can immediately reallocate them without the need to relevel them. This allows for greater flexibility in refining your character’s build.

Respeccing Passive Points

Passive points play a significant role in shaping your character’s build in Last Epoch. The ability to respec passive points allows you to fine-tune your build or try different passive combinations. Here’s how you can respec your passive points:

  1. Visit Chronomancer Lerinne, an NPC found in The End of Time or The Council Chambers.
  2. Talk to Chronomancer Lerinne and select the option to “Respecialize Mastery Point Allocations.”
  3. Open your passive tree and choose which passive points you want to remove.
    • Note: Each point removal will cost you gold, with the cost determined by the number of points invested in that node.
    • Note: You cannot remove points that would cause invested nodes from higher up in the tree to no longer meet point requirements.
    • Note: If you have any points in a Mastery Tree, you cannot remove more than 20 points from your Base Class tree.

Once you have respecced your passive points, you can immediately reallocate them without the need to relevel them. This flexibility allows you to experiment with different passive setups and optimize your character’s build.

The Mastery Class Respec

While you can respec your skill trees and passive points in Last Epoch, it’s important to note that there is no way to respec your mastery class. Once you make your choice, it’s permanent, so it’s crucial to choose wisely when selecting your mastery class. The mastery class you choose will greatly impact your character’s playstyle and available skills.

Summary

In summary, respeccing in Last Epoch allows you to modify your character’s build without starting a new character. You can respec both skill trees and passive points, but the process and costs involved differ for each. Skill points earned through leveling can be respecced up to the minimum specialized level, while gear points can be respecced without any consequences. Passive points can be respecced by visiting Chronomancer Lerinne, an NPC found in The End of Time or The Council Chambers. Respeccing passives incurs a gold cost, and you can only remove points one at a time.

It’s important to note that there is no way to respec your mastery class, so choose wisely when selecting your mastery. With the flexibility of respeccing, you can fine-tune your character’s build and try out different playstyles in Last Epoch.
