Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Rewards and Progression Details

The monetisation system is the main difference between the first Overwatch and Overwatch 2. As Overwatch 2 is free to play Blizzard needs to make some additions to get money from players. The first season shows Battle Pass with free and paid rewards. Let’s talk more about Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Rewards and Progression Details here.

Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Basics

Battle Pass details can be seen under the “Battle Pass” option in the main menu of the Overwatch 2 starting screen.

There you will see all the needed main details. For example, the number of the season, remaining time and the list of rewards. As you see in the picture above there are more Premium rewards than free. All of them you can inspect and see how they look or work.

Also, we can see the requirements to get a specific battle pass reward. For example, Miko skin on Mercy requires 10000 XP of battle pass progression, battle pass tier 50 unlocked and a Premium battle pass upgrade.

These Overwatch 2 battle pass experience points you can farm by playing the game. But in order to receive XP you need to complete challenges.

Battle Pass Progression

From the screen that you see in the picture above click “challenges” and you will see what you need to do to get XP for battle pass progression.

The most number of XP you get for completing daily challenges in Overwatch 2. They differ from time to time but not much. You have 24 hours with a personal cooldown. There are six daily challenges per day when you complete 3 of them you get 9000 battle pass XP. Like you see you get 3000Xp for 1 completed challenge, more 3000 XP for 2 completed challenges and the last 3000 XP for 3 completed challenges. You can complete all 6 but there is no additional reward for it.

Now let’s talk about weekly challenges. Here are two types of points that you can get for completing Overwatch 2 battle pass weekly challenges. Each weekly challenge you complete will grant you the mentioned number of XP to battle pass progression. In the screenshot, you can see that each of them grants 5000 battle pass XP. What is mentioned on the right is the count for receiving coins. These coins are needed to buy skins. We will talk about them in another post.

There are also seasonal challenges. Some of them are easy and you will get 500 XP to battle pass progression other are hard or time-consuming and you will get from 1000 to 5000 XP for completing them.

Competitive challenges will not grant you battle pass XP. But Lifetime challenges have several options to get 500 XP per each completed challenge. Hero challenges are not added yet.

Some additional battle pass XP you can get for queueing up as all roles or support in quick play mode.

Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Rewards

When you get the required number of XP to unlock a level it will unlock automatically. In case you are obliged to receive a reward you’ll get it. All the rewards that you’ve earned you can look up in the rewards section (enter from the Battle Pass screen from the picture on the top).

Maybe the most desired reward is a new character. In the first season, there is Kiriko – a new support character. If you owned Overwatch 1 you will get Kiriko for free at once no need to unlock it in the battle pass.

Other players will need to unlock tier 55 of the Season 1 Battle Pass in Overwatch 2 to get Kiriko. Both old and new players will also get an epic weapon charm on unlocking tier 55.

In general, there are 80 tiers of the battle pass and for completing the last 80th tier you unlock a new mythic skin for Genji named Cyber Demon and adds like player icon and spray.

Upon reaching tier 80 you will unlock new additional tiers of the battle pass that contain 8 prestige titles.

You will need many XP to unlock them but the progression is the same. The list of the Overwatch 2 battle pass titles you can see below.

The 8 Prestige titles in Season One of Overwatch 2 are as follows:

  • Tier 85: Nomad
  • Tier 95: Neogun
  • Tier 105: Streetrunner
  • Tier 120: Bytefixer
  • Tier 135: Netbreaker
  • Tier 155: Data Broker
  • Tier 175: Technoknight
  • Tier 200: Cyberdemon

The gap between tiers shows the required number of points to unlock the next title. You get nothing but these 8 prestige Overwatch 2 titles though.

How to Upgrade Overwatch 2 Battle Pass?

When you upgrade your battle pass it means that you buy it and get the opportunity to unlock all premium rewards. From the battle pass main menu you can click upgrade battle pass and see the prices.

For that, you will need the coins that we’ve already mentioned. You can farm them by completing weekly motions. 1000 coins are required to unlock all premium rewards for the Overwatch 2 battle pass. That means that if you get 60 coins per week by the end of the season you might have 540 coins. So eighter you wait for the next season and in the end of the next season unlock its premium rewards or you but additional 500 coins and unlock premium rewards for the current season.

In case you missed some weekly challenges you can buy coins for real money. Our prices (Ukrainian Hryvnia) will not tell you much, but you can see bundles and bonuses.

We will separately explain how to farm coins in Overwatch 2 and when it is worth buying some coins. As for the battle pass it is all.
