Wrath of the Lich King Classic Argent Crusade Reputation Guide

Wrath of the Lich King Classic Argent Crusade is based in various sites in Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Building reputation with Argent Crusade is primarily achieved through a combination of a quest line and daily quests, and by running dungeons while wearing the Tabard of the Argent Crusade in Heroic dungeons, as well as a few select Normal level 80 dungeons. Here you will learn how to get reputation with Wrath of the Lich King Classic Argent Crusade.

What is Wrath of the Lich King Classic Argent Crusade?

Argent Crusade is an organization created from the union of the Argent Dawn and the Knights of the Silver Hand. The initial Crusade was formed shortly after the Battle for Light’s Hope Chapel, as played out during the death knight class quest The Light of Dawn, in which Highlord Tirion Fordring — leader of the reformed Silver Hand — reclaimed and evidently purified Ashbringer during a confrontation with the Lich King. Tirion Fordring handpicked every member in the Argent Crusade to avoid Cult of the Damned infiltration and Lich King spies.

There are five quest hubs in Northrend:

  • Dawn’s Reach, Dragonblight
  • Light’s Breach, Zul’Drak
  • The Argent Stand, Zul’Drak
  • Argent Vanguard, Icecrown
  • Crusader’s Pinnacle, Icecrown

Who Needs Argent Crusade Faction?

Tanks will be interested in developing their Argent Crusade reputation for the Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector head enchant, which is the best tank head enchant in game. It also provides Arcanum of the Fleeing Shadow, a good item for anyone wanting to improve their Shadow resistance.

Tailors will definitely want the Pattern: Brilliant Spellthread, which will be in great demand by casters. Jewelcrafters looking to ‘collect them all’ will want to get Design: Guardian’s Twilight Opal, a gem mostly of interest to tanks.

The real reason to build Argent Crusade is that you’ll be getting a lot of these reputations anyway, just through the process of leveling up through Zul’drak and opening quests in Icecrown. Getting Honored is very easy, and you’ll have access to some nice pre-raid blues starting at level 78. The epic Exalted items are also excellent early-raid items.

How to gain a Reputation with Argent Crusade Faction?

There are several ways to improve your reputation with Argent Crusade, including Quest Lines, Daily Quests, Tabards/Dungeons, and Commendation Badges.

Dragonblight Quest Lines

There is a short list of Dragonblight quests out of Dawn’s Reach and Light’s Trust that give Argent Crusade. Unfortunately, not all of these are available to Horde players.

Dawn’s Reach starts with a breadcrumb out of Wintergarde Keep, with Imprints on the Past from Zelig the Visionary. You need to have quested out much of Wintergarde Keep before this line opens up. This involves Orik Trueheart at Dawn’s Reach, /way 87.2 57.4. Although he is friendly to both Horde and Alliance, the quest line from Orik Trueheart is only Alliance (which is a pity for Horde because these quests give a total of 1000 rep).

  • Orik Trueheart and the Forgotten Shore (does not give Argent Crusade rep)
  • The Murkweed Elixir
  • The Forgotten Tale
  • The Truth Shall Set Us Free

There is also a breadcrumb from Tilda Darathan at Dawn’s Rest, The Call Of The Crusade, that sends you to Crusader Valus at Light’s Trust in the northern part of the zone. This leads to the quest The Cleansing Of Jintha’kalar.

Zul’Drak Quest Lines

Zul’Drak has two quest hubs for Argent Crusade, Light’s Breach and The Argent Stand.

Quests in Light’s Breach

Some of these quests run concurrently and don’t exactly chain, but they all give rep except the one as noted and operate out of the same areas. This starts in Light’s Breach and chains into a small camp called Crusader Forward Camp near the Dead Fields.

If you go to Argent Strand first, you’ll pick up a breadcrumb quest First Things First, which sends you to Light’s Breach. This doesn’t give rep and isn’t necessary one way or the other.

  • Wanted: Ragemane’s Flipper (Wanted Poster); not part of a quest line
  • This Just In: Fire Still Hot!
  • Trolls Is Gone Crazy! – doesn’t give rep and doesn’t chain to anything, but might as well do it while you’re there
  • In Search Of Answers
  • Orders From Drakuru
  • Crusader Forward Camp
  • That’s What Friends Are For…
  • Making Something Out Of Nothing
  • Light Won’t Grant Me Vengeance
  • A Great Storm Approaches
  • Gymer’s Salvation
  • Our Only Hope
  • The Storm King’s Vengeance

There are also a breadcrumb from here that send you to The Ebon Watch. This is a quest hub for Knights of the Ebon Blade. Make sure to kill Withered Troll mobs on the way for a necklace drop you’ll need by the time you get there.

Quests in the Argent Stand through Pa’Troll

These quests are not completely linear – some can (and should) be completed with other quests in the same area. You will pick this series of quests up first, most of which are sending you north of Argent Strand:

  • Defend the Stand – can be picked up independently, or through the breadcrumb from Ebon Hold, Taking a Stand (no rep for this quest)
  • Parachutes for the Argent Crusade
  • The Blessing of Zim’Abwa > Trouble at the Altar of Sseratus
  • New Orders for Sergeant Stackhammer
  • Mopping Up
  • Argent Crusade, We Are Leaving!
  • Strange Mojo – picked up as a dropped item, Strange Mojo, needed to chain into a future quest

Upon returning Strange Mojo, you’ll get a quest Precious Elemental Fluids that takes you into the water elemental area south of Argent Strand (and this quest is a total pain to do). While you are welcome to do this quest line (and it does lead into quests that take you to Gundrak), if all you’re looking for is Argent Crusade rep, you can skip this one. Instead, go to Sub-Lieutenant Jax (/way 40.2 68.8) in southeastern Argent Strand and pick up The Drakkari Do Not Need Water Elementals!. Hold on to this quest, as it works in nicely with another quest in the next section.

Pa’Troll

Pa’Troll is a behemoth of a quest, with four main objectives and a wide range of sub-quests that you should do during your first pass. Pa’Troll opens up the daily quest Troll Patrol, which is a much easier version of this quest that doesn’t involve all the sub-quests. However, do the subquests as they appear, since they give good Argent Crusade rep, and will open these up for more dailies with Troll Patrol.

  • Lab Work – Alchemist Finkelstein’s task – only part that’s needed for Pa’Troll itself
  • Siphoning the Spirits – Side quest that does not give faction, but the two followups do:
  • Stocking the Shelves
  • Clipping Their Wings
  • Creature Comforts – Captain Grondel’s task
  • Something for the Pain – Captain Brandon’s task – do The Drakkari Do Not Need Water Elementals! at the same time as this one, and Precious Elemental Fluids if you’re doing that.
  • Throwing Down – Captain Rupert’s task – many side quests out of this little hub
  • Leave No One Behind
  • Death to the Necromagi > Malas the Corrupter
  • Cocooned! > Pure Evil
  • Skimmer Spinnerets > Crashed Sprayer > A Tangled Skein

After this, there is one more one-off quest in Argent Strand:

  • Gluttonous Lurkers

Icecrown Quest Lines

Most of the Icecrown quest lines for Argent Crusade appear right in the beginning of the zone as you work through Argent Vanguard and open up the flight point/quest hub of Crusader’s Pinnacle. You’ll need to do this part to open up other quest lines in Icecrown.

  • Honor Above All Else
  • Curing The Incurable
  • Defending The Vanguard
  • Scourge Tactics
  • If There Are Survivors…
  • Into The Wild Green Yonder
  • A Cold Front Approaches
  • The Last Line Of Defense
  • Once More Unto The Breach, Hero
  • The Scourgestone
  • The Restless Dead
  • The Purging Of Scourgeholme
  • The Stone That Started A Revolution
  • It Could Kill Us All
  • The Air Stands Still
  • Into The Frozen Heart Of Northrend
  • The Battle For Crusaders’ Pinnacle

Upon opening Crusader’s Pinnacle, Tirion gives you a quest line to complete:

  • A Tale of Valor
  • A Hero Remains
  • The Keeper’s Favor
  • Hope Within the Emerald Nightmare – does not give rep but leads to quests that do
  • Time Yet Remains
  • The Touch of an Aspect
  • Dahlia’s Tears – does not give rep but leads to quests that do
  • The Boon of Alexstrasza
  • Hope Yet Remains
  • The Will of the Naaru
  • The Boon of A’dal
  • Light Within the Darkness

After you’ve opened Crusader’s Pinnacle, you will also be directed to your skyships – The Skybreaker for Alliance and Ogrim’s Hammer for the Horde. This zone gets difficult to track the exact quest lines, since there are often long lines of quests between where you need to do a lot of non-Argent Crusade quests to get to the ones beneath.

There are a few quests associated with Argent Crusade that you will get as you also pursue quests for Knights of the Ebon Blade. In fact, you will need to do the quests to open The Shadow Vault quest hub, as detailed in the Knights of the Ebon Blade guide linked below. Baron Sliver starts a quest line called Blackwatch, which involves helping out a Death Knight named Darkrider Arly and an Argent Crusader named Crusader Olakin Sainrith. These are best done in tandem as these quests chain to one another. See the Ebon Hold guide under Icecrown Quest Lines for more details.

Daily Quests

There aren’t many dailies for Argent Crusade until Phase 3. Many more will become available with the launch of the Argent Tournament.[/color]

Troll Patrol

This opens upon completing Pa’Troll out of Argent Stand in Zul’Drak.

While this is based on the quest Pa’Troll in that you revisit the four same quest mobs, it’s different in that it’s much less involved and is thankfully a lot shorter. Each daily iteration of Troll Patrol involves getting 1 quest from each of the four main NPCS; these quests will rotate among three available options for the three captains. Only Alchemist Finklestein has the same quest available each day, since he only offers one choice.

Completing Troll Patrol leads to a short followup quest Congratulations!, which awards a Patroller’s Pack and 500 reputation with Argent Crusade, on top of the 350 earned from Troll Patrol. Mostly these contain some vendor items selling between 50 and 15, as well as a few Uncommon-quality pieces of gear.

Most players start with Captain Grondel nearest to Argent Stand, then southeast to Rupert, across to Brandon, and ending with Finkelstein in the north. Some start with Finkelstein; it depends on whether you want to get the running-around-the-lab part done first or last.

Captain Grondel, /way 48.0 63.8

  • Troll Patrol: Couldn’t Care Less
  • Troll Patrol: Creature Comforts
  • Troll Patrol: Whatdya Want, a Medal?

Captain Rupert, /way 58.0 72.4

  • Troll Patrol: Done to Death
  • Troll Patrol: Intestinal Fortitude
  • Troll Patrol: Throwing Down

Captain Brandon, /way 48.8 78.8

  • Troll Patrol: Can You Dig It?
  • Troll Patrol: High Standards
  • Troll Patrol: Something for the Pain

Alchemist Finklestein, /way 35.0 52.0[/li]

  • Troll Patrol: The Alchemist’s Apprentice

Note: Completing this quest counts as completing five dailies, not one, so you will need to be careful if you’re near your 25-daily quest limit for the day.

Most of these quests are simple and don’t require a lot of strategy. Only Troll Patrol: The Alchemist’s Apprentice merits some discussion.

This is similar to the original quest Lab Work, except that there are six random ingredients you have to find, and you have only thirty seconds to find them and click the pot. You can start running away from the pot the instant you put the previous ingredient in, although you won’t necessarily know which direction to run until he tells you the next ingredient. If you miss one, you will have to start over.

Most of the ingredients are common to both rooms, so you can find them on the shelves in either direction. There are some ingredients that are only found in the left room and some only on the right. Rare ones are always found on the second shelf from the bottom, except for Crushed Basilisk Crystals and Ghoul Drool, which are found on the bottom shelves.

Left Room:

Right Room:

Check the item pages if you need to know what these look like. After a couple days of doing this, you will learn what each item looks like.

Note: There used to be an addon for this called EasySerum, which is still around on Curseforge. It was last updated several years ago, but may work with WoTLK Classic. This addon tells you exactly where to find the items.

Slaves to Saronite

This daily quests opens fairly early on the skyships, and is fairly straightforward. This can be combined with other daily quests off the skyships that operate in the same area.

Enter the cave at /way 56 58; the slaves are inside. Click on them to talk to them and try to get them to accept freedom. Unfortunately, many are suffering from Stockholm syndrome and will not accept freedom — some will run away (toward hostile masters), some will attack you, and others will try to jump into a crevasse and die. Hostile slaves hit hard and drop no loot, so it’s bad when they go hostile. Players who can drop aggro (stealth, invisibility, feign death) are encouraged to do so, as hostile/runaway slaves will usually reset and you can talk to them again. If you manage to talk to a slave running for a pit or crevasse, you may still convince it to accept freedom.

Due to the super small area where you do this quest, this is a rough daily for those on PvP servers.

Tabards and Dungeons

Once you are Friendly with Argent Crusade, you can purchase Tabard of the Argent Crusade from the Quartermaster Veteran Crusader Aliocha Segard in Argent Vanguard, Icecrown. Running Heroic WoTLK-era dungeons at level 80 while wearing this tabard will earn reputation.

You can also run the following level 80 dungeons on Normal with the tabard, but you’ll earn less reputation than if you run them on Heroic:

  • Halls of Lightning
  • The Culling of Stratholme
  • The Oculus
  • Utgarde Pinnacle

Commendation Badges

Argent Crusade Commendation Badges can be clicked to increase your Kirin Tor reputation by 520. They are bind on pickup, so you cannot purchase or trade these items. Archmage Timear in Dalaran (near Violet Hold, /way 64.2 54.4) gives one of four daily dungeon quests, and the Argent Crusade Commendation Badge are just one of the commendation badge options you can choose as your reward. Completing all four quests awards the achievement Timear Foresees. The minimum level for these quests is 78, and these quests also offer 75 Kirin Tor reputation.

Gaining Exalted with Argent Crusade earns the achievement The Argent Crusade. It also contributes to one of the four reputations required for Northrend Vanguard. There is an additional achievement, The Argent Champion, for players who are Exalted with both Argent Crusade and Argent Dawn.

Argent Crusade also counts toward achievements for multiple reputations, such as 40 Exalted Reputations, which earns the title %s the Exalted.

The Argent Crusade Quartermaster, Veteran Crusader Aliocha Segard, is located in Argent Vanguard in Icecrown at /way 87.6 75.6.
