Chroma: Bloom & Blight hits Kickstarter campaign milestone with the demo now supporting both Mac and Linux

After making an impressive start to its Kickstarter campaign, Chroma: Bloom & Blight has now passed the halfway stage of its funding goal, currently sitting at 61% of it’s 100,000€ target with 15 days to go.

In a recent update developer, Clarity Games also brought a sleuth of new features to the playable alpha demo, including support for both Mac and Linux platforms as well as the ability to matchmake with friends. Chroma’s demo isn’t locked behind any of the Kickstarter backing tiers, it’s available to everyone now on Steam. The demo will be removed from all public locations and go into closed development at the end of the Kickstarter campaign, with the official closed alpha becoming available to all backers from mid-June.

Chroma: Bloom & Blight is a competitive card game that is truly free-to-play in the fact that you never need to buy a single card pack in the game! every player will have access to every card in the game, included any expansions and additional cards added over time. All the monetisation for Chroma: Bloom & Blight will go through the cosmetic store, where the player will have to option to buy a variety of cosmetic items.

Clarity Games chose to take this ‘free-to-all’ approach as it makes the game incredibly competitive right on release. There is no need to grind for card packs or spend all your resources into the ‘meta’ deck, anyone and build and play any deck they want day one of the game release.

To lean even further into the competitive scene, at launch Chroma will come with an integrated tournament system. The developers have teamed up with Esports organisers Challonge to provide players with the ability to create their own custom tournament for their friends/gaming community.

Chroma: Bloom & Blight’s Kickstarter Campaign is running until May 13th. Backers of the game will receive 50% of their pledge back as in-game currency, as well as some merchandise goods, depending on what tier is backed. The current time-frame for Chroma’s release is November 2020, with both a closed alpha and closed beta coming to backers before the open beta period.
