Today, the crusaders’ focused quest for purity has broadened. Flimsy “containment” gives evil many opportunities to thrive, and wandering crusaders – often master and apprentice pairs – regularly strike down Sanctuary’s demons. Some fight out of righteousness; others in the hopes that their victories may make corrupt Zakarum whole again. Crusaders have a lot of defensive skills and can protect themselves and their allies. They collect Wrath to overcome their enemies, heal and reflect damage.
The Heaven stand for Crusaders. Fury of the Heavens punish Crusader’s enemies with lightning, engulfing them in cleansing flames, or executing them with summoned celestial weapons.
Strong buffs Crusaders call laws. When they proclaim a law it strengthen them with power to strike monsters with more powers. They’re empowered with short bursts of energy, as well as long-term boons – like swift strikes, resistance to the elements or faster healing – that endure as long as the crusade does.
Crusaders can turn any situation into their advance with summoned steeds, leaping assaults and practised charges into combat, crusaders are relentless in pursuit of their enemies.
Crusaders have special weapons that only they know how to operate with. They are:
One-handed and Two-handed Flails, and Crusader Shields. Flails, like maces, are primarily bludgeoning weapons. While harder to wield than traditional maces and clubs, these spiked steel weights suspended from heavy chains allow a Crusader to inflict heavenly fury upon any foes foolish enough to stand in the way. Two-handed flails are massive weapons of destruction are favored by the zealous Crusaders. Some find the raw offensive power and the ability to pulverize the minions of the Burning Hells with a couple blows to be quite compelling, even at the cost of using their shields.
And a Crusader can wield a shield in their off-hand without sacrificing offensive prowess or boosts to their abilities. In fact, a Crusader is capable of inflicting as much punishment with these mighty shields as any hero with an off-hand weapon. For many Crusaders, a shield is their secondary weapon of choice.
