Double Up Tiers and Ranking System

Double Up is a new mode in Teamfight Tactics that has been added in BETA some patches ago. You can read more about this new co-op TFT mode in our post What is TFT Double Up Mode?. Here we will tell you more details about Double UP tiers and ranking system.

NEW!!! There’s gonna be changes to the Double Up ranking system when it leaves beta!
A ranked system tailor-made for Double Up: When we first released Double Up, we copied Hyper Roll’s ranked system because building a new ranked system for a Lab we expected to be live for just three patches didn’t seem like a good use of time. Now it’s obvious that we need a ranked system custom made for Double Up—one that lets you play with whoever you want whenever you want, while maintaining competitive integrity.

Double Up is very similar to the Hyper Roll ranking system both of them don’t have unranked matches. So if you start playing Double Up match it is always a ranked one. If you play together with a friend in a co-op you will get the same number of points.

Double Up tiers are also the same. There are five of them. All of them are marked with different colours. There are five different tiers. In Hyper Roll they are marked by different colours. After your first game, you will get 500 points and will start your journey from the Grey tier. But what are the other Double Up tiers? We answer below.

Double Up Ranked Tiers List

As we have already mentioned there are five of them and you start climbing the ladder from the Grey tier. But How many points do you need to move higher in Double Up? Read below.

  • Grey tier – 0 points
  • Green tier – 1,400 points
  • Blue tier – 2,600 points
  • Purple tier – 3,400 points
  • The coveted Double tier – 4,200 points

To climb the ladder you need to finish the game at least 4th. But some matches can give you 0 points even for placing 4th. So if you want to get higher always try to get to the top 3. Naturally, you will lose points for placing under 4th place. Remember that these results apply to both partners that play Double Up together.

Double Up Ranking System

Below you can see the main differences between TFT and Double Up ranked systems:

  • Double Up has its own Ranked system similar to Hyper Roll. It uses grey, green, blue, purple and hyper tiers instead of the standard Iron to Challenger tiers. We have mentioned all of that above.
  • Players will get Ranked rewards based on the highest rating they achieve at each stage, starting at the blue tier. Double Up will have its own separate ranked rewards at the end of the set.
  • Double Up grants a flat 50 XP per game, but players will be able to complete missions for XP in Double Up.

As for the rewards for Double Up. No need to worry if you lose your rank tier the only thing you need to do is to get to the blue tier. That’s the lowest rank that gives you rewards. Of course, you can climb as high as you want and getter a better reward. But the main point here is that you are guaranteed to receive the reward for the highest tier that you have managed to get to – even if you later take a plunge.
