How to Build Genshin Impact Lyney Team?

Lyney is a 5-star Pyro character in Genshin Impact which was released in August 2023. He is also referred to as Celebrated Magician of the Court of Fontaine. The name of the banner associated with Lyney’s release is Conjuring Chiaroscuro. This is an event banner and thus Lyney can be obtained only when this banner is active. In this post, you will learn how to build the Genshin Impact Lyney team from the characters that you own. In addition, you will see the most popular builds for Lyney.

Before we start note that this post is not a build guide for Lyney and doesn’t contain all information about him. You can expect only the Lyney team comps focus. That will help you understand how to make a good team for Genshin Impact Lyney even with the characters that you have. Of course, we include Genshin free-to-play comps for Lyney as well. If you need more information you can read the guide by the link below.

Genshin Impact Lyney Build and Best Team Comp

Also, we have other useful guides about all Genshin Impact characters that you might find interesting and useful. You can see the link below.

Lyney Talents

What is most important when you make a team comp in Genshin Impact is to remember that your characters must work together. Their talents need to assist each other and only via reactions. Some characters have talents that will change the whole impression about them when you see their talents.

Like any other character, Lyney has two types of talents – active and passive. The whole description of Lyney’s skills (talents) you can read via the link. In this post, we focus on the basic strategies and will explain what Lyney talents are worth paying attention to. Let’s start with talent priority for Lyney.

Talent Priority for Lyney

Card Force Translocation > Bewildering Lights > Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade

Card Force Translocation is Lyney’s Normal Attack. Lyney’s Level 2 Charged Shot fires a Prop Arrow that deals increased damage and summons a Grin-Malkin Hat. If his HP is above 60% when the Prop Arrow is fired, he consumes max 20% of his HP to obtain 1 Prop Surplus stack.

Bewildering Lights is Lyney‘s Elemental Skill. When Lyney’s Skill is cast, Prop Surplus stacks are consumed, with each stack increasing his Skill damage and self-heal. It is ideal to use Lyney’s Skill at the end of his rotation in order to maximize the Prop Surplus stacks consumed.

This Skill’s healing, while noteworthy, cannot replace a dedicated healer, as Lyney wants to fire up to five Charged Shots from above 60% Max HP.

Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade is Lyney‘s Elemental Burst. Lyney’s Burst is a large chunk of damage that can be used at any point in the combo before his Skill. It should be noted that the Hat summoned this way cannot benefit from Lyney’s A1. Because of the long duration Lyney can stay in Grin-Malkin Cat form, it’s recommended to cancel it early by pressing the Skill button to save time. However, the invulnerability frames and subsequent damage reduction it provides make it a decent panic button.

Lyney Ascension Passives

The other important thing is to know how exactly character ascension enhances them and what advantages you can get out of it for your team-building strategy. We want to attract your attention to the following Lyney Ascension Passives.

Perilous Performance

1st Ascension Passive

Lyney’s A1 allows Prop Arrows to gain even more value. This, along with many other conditional additives to the Prop Arrow, requires Lyney to consume his HP.

Conclusive Ovation

4th Ascension Passive

Lyney’s A4 is an extremely large increase to his damage with the condition that he hits opponents affected by Pyro. This means Lyney will not gain the buff if he triggers Vaporize or Melt. This loss in reaction damage is made up for by a whopping 60-100% DMG buff to all attacks as long as they meet the condition. This also incentivizes the usage of Mono Pyro teams (teams that focus on reaction-less Pyro damage and typically consist of primarily Pyro units).

Depending on what we have written above we will continue with character combinations that will suit Genshin Impact Lyney team the most.

As for the constellations. Lyney’s C1 adds an additional Hat if you use 4 or more Charged Attacks per rotation and adds a Hat and a Prop Surplus stack if you use 3 Charged Attacks per rotation. These are moderate increases to Lyney’s overall damage. C6 greatly increases the damage Lyney does with each Charged Attack by adding a Pyrotechnic Strike: Reprised to each of his Prop Arrows. This is Lyney’s strongest Constellation.

Genshin Impact Lyney Team Comp Options

There are several roles that all characters obtain in Genshin Impact. Your perfect team would consist of the Main DPS, 2 SUB-DPS characters and one Support. Main DPS is occupied by a character that can deal a decent amount of damage from all sources, auto attacks, elemental reactions and elemental bursts. Sub-DPSs are needed to activate reactions that boost the main DPS’ damage or deal some extra damage while the main DPS is sticking their elemental burst. Support can vary typically it is a healer/shielder, but in some cases, it can be a battery (the character that stacks elemental bursts for the team) or a spreader (the character that can spread reactions activated by all the characters).

Lyney is a classical main DPS character. There are many builds that can show the whole potential of Lyney but we will show only some of them. You can follow the logic and change characters in the teams depending on what character you obtain. Also, you will see the f2p Lyney team and find a link to another post where we explain what other characters match Lyney and why.

Genshin Impact FREE TO PLAY Lyney team

Even though Bennett is not free to play a character, meaning that you cannot get him for completing quests, you should somehow get Bennett if you want to play Lyney. Bennett is essential to Lyney’s teams due to his healing, Flat ATK buff, and battery potential. It is recommended to run a healing-focused build on Bennett while playing him with Lyney.

The BEST Lyney team

One of Lyney’s passive Talents is a dramatic DMG boost based on the number of Pyro characters present in the party. Dehya will provide resistance to interruption to keep Charged Attacks from being disrupted. Kazuha has a crowd control that can reduce the Pyro RES of enemies through Viridescent Venerer x4 and boost Pyro DMG. Bennett can provide healing & ATK buff simultaneously.

All possible variations for Lyney are all mono pyro, you can change Anemo character to any other Anemo you’ve got or take Zhongli for more defence.

  • Take Anemo characters. Kazuha provides an Elemental DMG% buff and can hold 4pc Viridescent Venerer to shred enemy Pyro RES. He is one of the best options for maximizing Lyney’s personal damage. Venti’s powerful grouping uniquely allows Lyney to take advantage of the small AoE on his Pyrotechnic Strikes, allowing Lyney to deal with groups of enemies as long as they can be lifted by Venti’s Burst. At C6, Sucrose can increase Lyney’s Pyro DMG Bonus with her Burst.
  • Bennett is a must. Bennett is essential to Lyney’s teams due to his healing, Flat ATK buff, and battery potential. It is recommended to run a healing-focused build on Bennett while playing him with Lyney.
