How to buy a horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance at the very beginning of the game

I’ve already told you how to get the most out of the training arch and your stay in Skalitz, and it will indirectly help you to speed up the purchase of a horse, as trained herbalism will allow you to collect herbs faster and sell them at a higher price. This is critical if you want to buy your first horse before you start serving sir Radzig. Yes, it is possible and I will tell you how to do it.

When I started the new playthrough of Kingdom Come, I didn’t want to spend the extra time of the streams to level up skills and buy a horse, because the process of earning money for that is quite long and monotonous. That’s why I ran through the training arch very quickly and didn’t gain any additional skills or money. But during my stay in Ratay, I decided to buy a horse right away and at the same time show how to earn money for it without quests and rewards.

How to collect money at the start of the game in Kingdom Come: Deliverance?

Your best friends in this business are herbalism and alchemy. They are an additional source of income in the game and the main one at first when you don’t know how to do anything yet. Herbs are literally everywhere, and you don’t need to learn how to recognize them or collect them. When you arrive at the Ratay mill and talk to Peshek, you can collect all the herbs on your way to the local apothecary. You will sell the herbs to him and immediately pay off your debt of 50 groszy. Also, ask him about his ability to read, as this skill is necessary for alchemy.

Then you don’t have to go to Radzig, as I did on the stream (I wasn’t going to buy a horse at the time), but go straight to Uzice. On the way, collect herbs to pay for your reading lessons with the scribe, which costs 50 groszy. You can do additional quests, but only if they don’t involve combat, because without learning at least the basics from Captain Bernard, you are doomed to failure. In Uzice, you may need a place to stay for the night. To do this, rent a room in a tavern, but for one night, because it costs only 2 coins and will not cause much of a loss.

When you master reading, you can go to the herbalist near Talmberg and collect herbs along the way for the “Lifesaving Schnapps” potion, you will need nettle and belladonna. Why this one? Because it is immediately available and can be sold at a high price. In case you don’t know what belladonna looks like or where to look for it. It’s a single bush, easily found along the road leading from the mill in Ratay to Ledechko (to the north of the mill).

Of course, you can buy more alchemical recipes from the herbalist, but they are expensive and won’t pay off quickly. So I advise you to stick with the Lifesaving Schnapps. When you arrive at the herbalist, sell her the extra herbs from your bags and go to the alchemical table. There you need to start the brewing process and take an active part in it. You won’t be able to do it without reading, but you’re already almost a scriptorium scholar, so you’ll be fine. It is advisable to make about 30 to 40 schnapps so that you aren’t overwhelmed and have enough money to buy a horse. It is important not to be overloaded to be able to run to Uzice, because the herbalist doesn’t buy potions, but the stable man does.

Where to buy the cheapest horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance?

When you choose a horse at the very beginning of the game, the price becomes an important factor. The cheapest horse is sold in Uzice and costs 500 groszy. In Neuhof, the cheapest horse is already 1000 groszy. So the difference is huge. I bought a cheap horse from Uzice.

The first time you come to Uzice to learn how to read, I advise you to take a quest to find Pie, the runaway horse. Then, on your way back with ready-made potions for sale, you will find the horse (it got lost between Talmberg and Uzice) and ride it to the stable man. You complete the quest, get more money and a horse blanket as a reward, sell the potions, and buy your first horse before it is given to you.

But be careful here, because the horse will be naked. I forgot about this and therefore could not buy a saddle or harness for it. So I sat on a naked horse with a blanket that I received as a reward. So I made and sold potions off stream to equip the horse, and a little bit of myself.

Additional tips

In general, that’s it. But do not forget to level up your herbalism and alchemy skills and take perks. The maximum skill level is 20, and every 5 levels you can choose a passive that will make the process of collecting herbs or making potions more efficient. In herbalism, I took extra points to my charisma from the flower herbs in my bag and a passive strength boost when I gathered herbs. You can also choose a perk that makes the herbs you sell more expensive.

In alchemy, you won’t have time to level up any very effective perks for the brewing process. But the ones that are offered are quite good for the game itself. I took the one that improves the storage of food in the bag and the one that gives an additional error during potion brewing. At higher levels, you can choose automatic potion brewing and advanced automatic brewing. They are very useful in the middle of the game, when you also need to earn money quickly, and you don’t want to spend half an hour of game time on it.

That’s all for now, thank you for watching my channels and reading my posts! I’m excited about your comments, likes, and subscriptions like a kid, please don’t stop!) Thank you, have a nice day and bye.
