How to get Soul Ash in World of Warcraft Shadowlands

One of the new items that will appear in Shadowlands is new currencies. Today we will tell you more about Soul Ash, how to get it and where to use.

What is Soul Ash?

As it is mentioned in Soul Ash description: A raw source of power found within Torghast. Used to fuel the Runecarver’s Chamber.

In fact, Soul Ash is a new type of currency used for crafting Legendary items in Torghast. You can read more about Rune Carving in our guide here. To craft a high-level base you will need more Soul Ash:

• Rank 1 (iLvl 195): Requires 100 Soul Ash
• Rank 2 (iLvL 210): Requires 200 Soul Ash
• Rank 3 (iLvL 225): Requires 300 Soul Ash
• Rank 4 (iLvL 235): Requires 400 Soul Ash

Farm Soul Ash in Torghast

There are several ways to get Soul Ash. The most common one is to complete runs in Torghast. Once per week and per wing (there are six of them, but each week 2 of them are available) you get Soul Ash as a reward. Currently, the rate for obtaining Soul Ash is the following:

7	3 Soul Ash
8	3 Soul Ash

It means that for completing one layer of the mentioned difficulty you get the relevant number of Soul Ash. You can skip lower floors as upon completing the higher level you get the Soul Ash from the lower layers automatically.

But first, you need to open all the layers to skip them. So if on the first week you unlock layers 1, 2, 3 you get 30 Soul Ash. And during the next week, you can skip layers 1, 2, 3, enter layer 4 and after a successful run get 30 Soul Ash for layers 1-3 plus 5 Soul Ash for completing layer 4, so you get 35 Soul Ash.

Where does Soul Ash drop?

In addition, you can farm specific monsters to get Soul Ash as a drop. The following monsters can drop 15 Soul Ash:

• Warden of Souls (elite)
• The Grand Malleare (elite)
• Warden Skoldus (elite)

All of them are bosses from Torghast and are needed for Gatekeepers of Torghast achievement. But as bosses spawn randomly this way of obtaining Soul Ash is not effective. Although it is a good chance to get extra Soul Ash during your run if you are lucky.

Yes, you can buy Soul Ash from NPC Runeataur. The item called Bag of Soul Ash contains 1000 Soul Ash.

Runeataur (Tauren) is located in Oribos in horde territory but reacts friendly to any faction. You will find him in Ring of Fates as shown in the picture below.

Complete Torghast Objectives

And the last way to get Soul Ash is to complete side quests and objectives during Torghast runs. After defeating bosses or in some of the layers you’ll see Resonating Chests. Open them to collect 15 Soul Ash.
