Path of Exile 3.14 Ultimatum – Best League Starter Builds

The new Ultimatum League is coming to Path of Exile very soon, and it’s time to choose the right build! The mechanics of the new league are based on fast-clearing packs of mobs in a medium-sized zone, while the main condition is not to die! Therefore, the main condition for choosing a build will be good AoE damage and the ability to survive the most difficult mods that players will have to face.

Cyclone Impale Champion

One of the most popular and most balanced builds. Besides decent clear speed, it offers very solid defences. Impale also scales perfectly with Flat Physical Damage from Champion Ascendancy. A huge plus is a fact that this build does not depend on uniques, which is great for Path of Exile beginner builds.

Pros:

  • Strong single target damage
  • Decent damage mitigation
  • Instant Life Leech

Flicker/Cyclone Gladiator

Flicker Strike allows you to kill packs in a second, while its main advantage is that it teleports the character to a nearby enemy. This makes Flicker some of the fastest builds in the game. High damage and good survivability will allow you to quickly and efficiently clean any maps. And the more mobs on them, the better!

Pros:

  • Fast clear speed
  • High damage
  • All content viable

Build Guide example – Blazer780’s Flicker/Cyclone Gladiator

Earthquake Juggernaut

Since the Earthquake was added to the game, it has never lost its relevance. A great skill for the melee build, and if you add a huge amount of armour and regen from Juggernaut Ascendancy here, you get an excellent combination. High AoE damage and sufficient protection allow you to clean maps quickly and easily. And if you wish, you can always spend currency on upgrades in order to be able to kill any end-game bosses.

Pros:

  • High AoE damage
  • Great overall damage reduction
  • Good HP regeneration

Caustic Arrow Raider

CA is a very simple skill with good damage and AoE. If you are primarily interested in great survivability, then Raider is perfect for this role. High mobility and a wide range of defensive mechanics will allow you not only to quickly but also safely clear maps of any shooting range. For endgame content, you will have to improve the equipment, but this will not cost too much currency. The Ascendancy classes rework made it possible to have Permanent Phasing and Onslaught, as well as additional chances to Dodge and Evade damage, which added even more advantages to this build.

Pros:

  • Easy to play
  • Very tanky
  • Flexible build

Essence Drain Trickster

This build needs no introduction. A dozen leagues (if not more) players start their journey with this spell – Essence Drain. Chaos damage scales well with the level of the gem and is very conveniently located in the Passive skill tree, which allows you to collect enough damage nodes and get life and defence nodes located nearby. The single target damage is impressive, and Contagion allows you to kill mobs without even hovering over them. Trickster has high life and mana regen, and MoM makes it even more tenacious.

Pros:

  • Extremely fast levelling
  • Great map clear speed
  • Low budget start with possibilities to upgrade for end-game

Build Guide example – Darkxellmc’s Ultimate ED Trickster

Bladefall/Blade Blast Assassin

One of the builds, which is able to clean up all the content in the game, while completely independent of unique or expensive equipment. Using the Bladefall combo (covers the selected area with Lingering Blades) and Blade Blast (detonates these blades) for one-shot packs and very fast killing of bosses, which makes clearing maps fast and efficient. Several defensive mechanics, such as Elusive, Blind and Acrobatics (with Phase Acrobatics), allow most mobs to be ignored. The only drawback is phys reflect maps, they will have to be rerolled.

Pros:

  • SSF viable (uniques are optional)
  • Excellent single target damage
  • Very tanky

Build Guide example – Chazua’s Blade Blaster Assassin

Lightning Trap Saboteur

If you are tired of physical/elemental reflect maps, then it’s time to try playing with the trap build. Saboteur has always had high traps and mines damage, allowing him to kill end-game bosses in seconds. And this build is no exception. The build is very good at the very beginning of the league, there are enough rare items for farming maps, while it has good potential when investing currencies on upgrades – it all depends on your decision.

Pros:

  • Easy to start
  • Can clear all map mods
  • HC viable

Build Guide example – DissentXTV’s Battle Trapper

Ball Lightning Hierophant

This build makes it easy to start a new league, as well as farm end-game maps at incredible speed. High life regeneration will allow you to ignore most of the damage, given that in addition to the average amount of life, this build has MoM and arcane cloak absorption. This will allow you to survive burst damage, the main thing is to be ready for it. Also, this build has a very smooth gearing path and with minimal investment, it is able to reach a very strong level.

Pros:

  • Amazing clear speed
  • High survivability
  • Immune to elemental alignments

Build Guide example – Aniki’s Archmage Ball Lightning Hierophant

Vortex/Creeping Frost Occultist

What if chaos damage isn’t for you (or it’s not the first time you’ve started your league as Trickster), but you enjoy DoT skills? Then self-casting Vortex together with Creeping Frost and Frostbolt (both linked with Spellslinger) will diversify the start of a new league. This build, like chaos builds, is great for fast leveling and starting map farming. However, if desired, it can be upgraded to the end-game version, although a decent amount of currency is required. But it’s up to you to decide, but even on SSF or with a low-budget version of the build, you can comfortably farm maps.

Pros:

  • One Button build
  • DoT Damage (and it’s cold, not chaos!)
  • From starter build to end-game farming

Build Guide example – Clydehart’s Vortex Occultist

Cremation Necromancer

Who, if not Necromancer will be able to unleash the full potential of the skill associated with corpses. And despite the fact that for high DPS stats some uniques are required, you have enough damage without them to quickly and efficiently clean maps. Not very demanding to start, it has several skills for survival (Bone Offering for blockbusting and Arcane Cloak for damage absorb), this build will allow you to start a new league without difficulties and farm a good amount of currency in a short time.

Pros:

  • Easy League starter
  • Great AoE and single target damage
  • Good defences

Build Guide example – Gryph’s Cremation Necromancer
