Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 – Review

Introduction to the game Plants vs. Zombies: GW2

The other day we had pretty good news from Origin. They had a prom on Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. The only thing we had to do is to download the game and after that, we had free 10 hours to enjoy its all pros and cons.

We guess that this trial isn’t available anymore, but check, who knows, maybe you’ll be lucky.

This is how it looked for us:

As we started playing we understood that there are lots of things in the game. You can play story mode, PvP mode or Coop mode. And if you really don’t know what to do you can simply run through the main map (where your backyard is) and kill all enemies you see on your way.

Mainly this is the reason why we decided to write two different articles on Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. This one is an introduction to the game, where we will show you it’s general features and story mode.

General features

According to Wikipedia:

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is a third-person shooter and tower defense video game.

We’d only add that it’s more varied as there are some things you can do except PvP. So, first you do in the game is starting it as a plant, sunflower actually, and complete tutorial. There you will learn controls, get to your city (the backyard), learn main principals and defeat the Boss:

There in the backyard, you can decide what to do next. The board you can see straight ahead will give you quests for story mode. There are a mailbox, a garage, a wardrobe, three different zones where you can make portals to Coop, PvP and Story modes, also, there is a zone (under the big tree) where you can analyze your stats on different plants (it looks as a valley of heroes or something) in the backyard.

Did you notice an orange machine, what do you think they sell? Coffee? Chocolate? Something else? The right answer is boosters! Here how they look:

Each pack has different price and content. You can get plants for Tower Defense mode (in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 you can get them only here and you have to be lucky to get good ones, also if you don’t have any plants to build you can play Tower Defense mode, but you won’t build anything). There is also a possibility you get skins or skin parts. I had 4 gifts and here the content of one of them:

As we’ve already mentioned there is a special place in the backyard where you can see your stats. There you can also find this special book:

It shows your stats in the game, both: plants and zombies side. There you’ll see what and how many towers you have got etc.

Note: If you use plant towers they stay in the jar waiting for enemies. But zombie towers will spawn and move to the objective.

Oh, we forgot to mention that you can change your hero anytime, by using your wardrobe:

Story Mode

Simply story mode is about playing alone and doing quests. You get the first quest as you start your tutorial and continue through the whole game. Here is the first quest you get in the city:

Then you will have two types of quests. The first one tied up with the plot the other one will change in some period of time.

As you see there are different guys in the game who give you quests. We’ve completed the first chapter and got a sticker. After that we continued with new chapter with Corn General or something

Other quests you will find on the board (as we’ve already told):

You take all possible quests and get full XP multiplier for such greediness! 😳

As far as we understood, while you are doing quests you train for PvP and Tower Defence modes. For example, you need to complete this map:

Where you are to get 50 kills first, which is very familiar to PvP mode. Or the other map:

Here you build a camp and protect it from incoming Zombies. You will also find jars to build tower plants there. So, this is a simple Tower Defense mode.

But of course, there are also bosses to be defeated between chapters. As this funny disco-star:

It’s rather interesting to play, but we had only 10 hours and I wanted to check PvP mode out too, so we guess that’s where my introduction to the game ends. Next time we’ll tell you about Coop and PvP!
