Lunar festival in World of Warcraft is an annual event during which all players celebrate Lunar New Year. The festival takes place in Moonglade and brings a lot of fun with specific events, achievements and gifts. Equip your best transmog that suits the occasion and join the celebration.
When: February 5–19
Where: Moonglade, with camps in Ironforge, Stormwind, Darnassus, Thunder Bluff, Orgrimmar, and the Undercity (in old Undercity talk to Zidormi in Tirisfal Glades east of Lordaeron Keep)
Currency: Coin of Ancestry
Collect as many Coins of Ancestry as you can in events to get rewards from Cenarion Circle. The list of the main activities is below.
During the year Omen rests in the silt of Lake Elune’ara. But every year he wakes up and heroes of Azeroth must overcome him to bring peace to the land. Travel to the location and kill Omen.
Start the main questline with the quest called The Lunar Festival. This will lead you to the next place where Lunar Festival is being held. Speak with Lunar Festival Harbinger to learn more details.
One of the quest is to buy and launch some fireworks. So make sure to obtain Lunar Fireworks and Cluster Fireworks to complete the quest Lunar Fireworks.
Only after that you will receive the invitation to Moonglade to speak with Valadar Starsong in Nighthaven.
This year – Venthyr Covenant Only: Those loyal to the Venthyr Covenant can speak to an Elder within the Ember Court.
This is one of the main activities at the Lunar Festival. And this event will give you the best way to farm Coins of Ancestry.
Finding and honoring an elder will reward you with 75 reputation with all of your major city factions and a Coin of Ancestry, which can be used as a currency to purchase festival-related items. Honoring every elder will grant you 84 Coin of Ancestry, and over 6000 reputation (before bonuses). Players are reporting that you will not receive this reputation bonus applied to factions you are already Honored or above with.
On top of the 84 Coin of Ancestry from Elders, you can earn an additional 25 from completing Lunar Preservation for 109 Coin of Ancestry.
