The Ulduar complex, which is situated in The Storm Peaks’ northernmost area, belongs to the Titans. It has two dungeons, namely the Halls of Lightning and the Halls of Stone, and also possesses a raid that is the prison of Yogg-Saron, the Old God who is a source of immense dread.

  • There are both 10-Player and 25-Player modes, as well as 10-Player and 25-Player Hard Modes.
  • Boss encounters drop Tier 8 raid gear.
  • There are 13 boss encounters divided between 4 wings, and an extra bonus boss.
  • The first wing must be complete before the second and third wings can be accessed. All three must all be completed before the fourth wing can be accessed.
  • The bonus boss requires a special unlock – Celestial Planetarium Key.
  • New Legendary mace – Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings.
  • Attunement: None for the raid, a questline for the bonus boss.
  • Zone: The Storm Peaks

How to get to Ulduar

Ulduar is positioned in the northern part of The Storm Peaks. The raid resides in the middle of the complex. The summoning stone is positioned precisely outside the structure, yet you must be able to take to the skies to access the raid entrance. A flight point is available to use at the site. Before the instance portal becomes visible, you must be quite near to it.

Ulduar Layout

Ulduar has 4 wings (and 1 bonus boss):

It should be noted that Auriaya is included with the Antechamber bosses but is actually situated in the Inner Sanctum and can be confronted whenever. When the Inner Sanctum bosses have been defeated, you can proceed to the last wing, the Prison of Yogg-Saron. The additional boss, Algalon the Observer, is placed in the Antechamber of Ulduar and, after it has been unlocked, can be completed at any time once the Antechamber is available.

Celestial Planetarium

In order to access the Celestial Planetarium, you need either the 10-Person Raid Celestial Planetarium Key or the Heroic Celestial Planetarium Key for 25-Person Raid. Taking the necessary steps to obtain these keys is essential; for further information, please refer to this guide.

Hard Modes in Ulduar

The majority of the bosses within the Ulduar dungeon have the capability of having their difficulty increased through certain actions taken within the raid. This ‘Hard Mode’ increases the challenge of the boss, and in turn, rewards the raid with increased loot for their victory.

Flame Leviathan

To trigger the Flame Leviathan’s Hard Mode, any of the four special towers must remain standing throughout the gauntlet event. This will result in the Flame Leviathan gaining an additional 40% health and an incredibly potent ability. The more towers still standing, the more dangerous the boss will be. To start the towers initially and thus enable Hard Mode, head over to the Expedition Camp and converse with Lore Keeper of Norgannon.

XT-002 Deconstructor

It is possible to trigger XT-002 Deconstructor’s Hard Mode during any of the additional phases. To restore XT-002’s health to 100%, and to prevent additional spawns, raid must eliminate the exposed core of the Deconstructor, and this will also grant it various new abilities.

The Assembly of Iron

When the Assembly of Iron is engaged in Hard Mode, Steelbreaker must be defeated last in order to trigger the Overwhelming Power effect, which will cause him to kill the tank assigned to him every sixty seconds. This gives the raid team a limited amount of time to complete the battle once Steelbreaker is the only boss left.

Hodir

Defeating Hodir in under 2:00 minutes will grant players access to his Hard Mode loot, contained inside the Cache of Winter.

Freya

Freya’s difficulty can be increased by not killing the elders that are located in her chamber. This will cause them to unable to fight, but it will also bolster her health and that of her companions, and give her special benefits.

Mimiron

To activate Hard Mode of Mimiron, you will have to press the big “DO NOT PUSH” button at the rear of his chamber. This action will set off an 8-minute self-destruct clock. You will have to take out all 4 Vehicles within the given time to be successful. Emergency Mode will boost Mimiron’s health and damage by 30%. Additionally, he will set his room ablaze and will use new abilities in each phase.

Thorim

To access Thorim’s hard mode, you’ll need to make sure he decent in the arena within 3 minutes of the pre-Phase ending. Sif will lend Thorim support with her powers. Be aware that Touch of Dominion won’t be available on hard mode, so Thorim will have increased damage and HP. Sif is invulnerable and will have new spells.

General Vezax

If all 6 Saronite Vapors appear and are left alone while Vezax is still alive, then Hard Mode will be activated. This will cause a Saronite Animus to appear, providing Vezax with a Saronite Barrier that renders him impervious to harm. While the barrier is active, Vezax will not cast Searing Flames. To remove the shield and make Vezax vulnerable once again, the Animus must be defeated.

Yogg-Saron

Just like with the Flame Leviathan, the Hard Mode of Yogg-Saron is changeable. After the Inner Sanctum bosses, known as the Keepers, have been defeated, they will help you take down Yogg-Saron by granting a buff. You can talk to any of the Keepers and ask them not to help you. The fight will be more difficult if you don’t have the buffs from all the Keepers. If you manage to defeat Yogg-Saron without their aid, then you will be rewarded with chance to get Mimiron’s Head (mount) and Hard Mode loot.

We wish you good luck in WotLK Classic Ulduar Raid.
