Yanfei is a 4-star Pyro character in Genshin Impact that was released in April 2021. She is also referred to as Liyue Harbor’s famed legal adviser. Yanfei was firstly released in a banner called Gentry of Hermitage. But as any 4-star character, Yanfei can appear in any other banner including reruns. What is the most important when you make a team comp in Genshin Impact is to remember that your characters must work together. Their talents need to assist each other and only via reactions. Some characters have talents that will change the whole impression about them when you see their talents.
Like any other character, Yanfei has two types of talents – active and passive. The whole description of Yanfei’s skills (talents) you can read via the link. In this post, we focus on the basic strategies and will explain what Yanfei’s talents are worth paying attention to. Let’s start with talent priority for Yanfei.
Seal of Approval is Yanfei’s Normal Attack. You will deal the most part of all damage with a normal attack. Especially charged normal attack. But it takes too much stamina.
Done Deal is Yanfei’s Elemental Burst. Triggers a spray of intense flames that rush at nearby opponents, dealing AoE Pyro DMG, granting Yanfei the maximum number of Scarlet Seals, and applying Brilliance to her. That grants Yanfei a Scarlet Seal at fixed intervals and increases the DMG dealt by her Charged Attacks. The effects of Brilliance will end if Yanfei leaves the field or falls in battle.
Signed Edict is Yanfei’s Elemental Skill. Summons blistering flames that deal AoE Pyro DMG. Opponents hit by the flames will grant Yanfei the maximum number of Scarlet Seals.

When Yanfei consumes Scarlet Seals by using a Charged Attack, each Scarlet Seal will increase Yanfei’s Pyro DMG Bonus by 5%. This effect lasts for 6s. When a Charged Attack is used again during the effect’s duration, it will dispel the previous effect.
It means you will deal much more damage with your normal attack.

When Yanfei’s Charged Attack deals a CRIT Hit to opponents, she will deal an additional instance of AoE Pyro DMG equal to 80% of her ATK. This DMG counts as Charged Attack DMG. The maximum extension is 5s.
And again you will deal even more damage from your normal attack.
Depending on what we have written above we will continue with character combinations that will suit the Genshin Impact Yanfei team the most. But as for Yanfei, you need to get at least C4 because then you’ll unlock Pyro shield that Yanfei activates a shield that absorbs up to 45% of Yanfei’s Max HP for 15s. This shield absorbs Pyro DMG 250% more effectively. C5 and C6 for Yanfei are also useful.
There are several roles that all characters obtain in Genshin Impact. Your perfect team would consist of the Main DPS, 2 SUB-DPS characters and one Support. Main DPS is occupied by a character that can deal a decent amount of damage from all sources, auto attacks, elemental reactions and elemental bursts. Sub DPSs are needed to activate reactions that boost the main DPS’ damage or deal some extra damage while the main DPS is sticking their elemental burst. Support can vary typically it is a healer/shielder, but in some cases, it can be a battery (the character that stacks elemental burst for the team) or a spreader (the character that can spread reactions activated by all the characters).
Yanfei is a typical main DPS with strong casts and high damage from reactions like vaporize. Below you can see some options for different Genshin Impact Yanfei team comps that we find decent. But let’s start from the Genshin Impact free to play Yanfei team comp.
Yanfei will be the main DPS dealing strong Pyro damage. Xiangling can support Yanfei by activating Pyro resonance and energy from the Elemental Skill. Barbara can heal and spread Hydro for Vaporize reaction, which is very powerful and important to deal more damage with Yanfei. Kaeya spreads Cryo enabling many Melt reactions. But you can change him with Lisa for other strong reactions.
To trigger vaporize reaction you can use Xingqiu abilities to apply the Hydro effect constantly and then deal extra damage with Yanfei Pyro attacks. Zhongli has a useful shield and Burst with crowd control. As for Bennett he’ll heal and buff the whole team with his Burst.
This team can be very effective but not easy to obtain. Yelan is the better version of Xingqiu. She will spread Hydro on every normal attack that deals Yanfei so that you will activate vaporize reaction at every blow. Zhongli has a useful shield and Burst with crowd control, while Kazuha will reduce resists and group enemies. There is no healer because Zhongli’s shield is extremely effective. And if your Yanfei is C4 she will create her own shield. That makes her almost invulnerable.
