League of Legends: Wild Rift Esports confirmed! More details are to come later this year.
Mobile gamers, it’s your time to shine!
“Like League PC, Wild Rift is wildly competitive, with the depth, complexity, and high-stakes moments that make for a great sport,” said John Needham, Head of Global Esports at Riot Games, in today’s Season Start livestream. “While it’s still incredibly early, we’re excited to bring our passion and dedication for esports to mobile.”
Yes, that’s right. Today Riot Games is announcing their commitment to bring Wild Rift Esports to players around the world. While regional and global plans are still in the works, they have already announced competitive plans for Wild Rift Esports in Southeast Asia.
In Southeast Asia, the season will kick off with several smaller, intermittent competitive events through March. In April, teams will transition to eight, location-specific tournament circuits where they will compete for the title of local champion and a chance to later compete against other local champions from across Southeast Asia.
These plans are an exciting preview of Wild Rift regional and global events which will be revealed throughout the year. Stay connected with the latest Wild Rift announcements through wildrift.leagueoflegends.com and follow us on Twitter @wildrift!
