Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be released in Late 2024

I’ve been waiting for this news for over two years, constantly monitoring Warhorse Gaming’s social media to make sure I didn’t miss the official confirmation of the release of the sequel to one of my favourite games, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. But, as is typical for the genre, I found out about the release by accident. However, this only multiplied my excitement, as the best things happen unexpectedly. I suggest you watch the official trailer cut, and I’ll give you my brief impressions and thoughts. Traditionally, I narrated my article in the video below.

I must say that the extension of Henry’s epic adventure has been speculated for a long time, but the developers have not officially commented on it. I even watched all the interviews with the actor who played Henry, Tom McKay, but he didn’t split on this issue, he just smiled sweetly. Some time after the release of the first part, a prologue was added to the game, where Henry goes on a journey with Hans Capon. Then it became clear that a certain continuation of the plot was being prepared, taking into account the fact that historically, according to the logic and chronology of events, everything should come up to the Hussite Wars. But after that, for more than two years, there were no hints of a continuation of the series. Until last week, when Warhorse released the official trailer and announced the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 at the end of 2024. And it turns out that the work on the second part lasted for six years. I am thrilled.

You can hear more about the game and how it was developed in the video above. There you’ll see actors Tom McKay and Luke Dale, who play Henry and Hans, as well as game director Daniel Vavra and other developers. They will present the main catchy elements of the game that will inspire you not only to buy the second part but also to play the first part right now. Or at least watch me play it for the seventh time on Twitch.

What will be the storyline?

Let’s get back to the trailer. At first glance, it seems that Henry has grown up and we will miss more than one year of his adventures and formation as Scalitz’s successor. But this is not the case. The actor himself is certainly not getting any younger, because 10 years have passed since the filming of the first part. But first of all, the approach to animation has changed, so the appearance of all the characters doesn’t look very familiar. In any case, we can see that there is almost nothing left of the peasant Henry. Also, Hans Capon and other wealthy sirs and madams are seen in his company, so it is logical to assume that Henry’s status has risen. How high, we will have to check. I am convinced that the plot won’t be boring and will immerse us in unpredictable whirlwinds of events.

Now a trusted member of the rightful king’s allies, Henry is sent to escort Sir Hans Capon on a diplomatic mission. After they are ambushed and nearly killed, the two young men embark on a series of perilous adventures, putting their skills, character and friendship to the ultimate test.

But besides this, the trailer announced the participation of our old enemies. One of them is the bald bastard Markvart von Aulitz, who killed Henry’s parents and launched his personal vendetta. The other is the vile Istvan Toth, who has already slandered Henry’s real father and caused a lot of trouble in the province, but most importantly, he stole the sword (forged by Henry’s stepfather) that he was so passionately trying to get back. Among the positive characters, besides Hans Capon, I am happy to see Father Godwin. These two won’t let you get bored under any goddamn circumstances, that’s for sure!

As for the love stories. Many people online were outraged, asking where Teresa was. Well, I’m only happy that there’s some other young lady in the cut, and Teresa is not even on the horizon. I’m all for Henry being free to go on his own, if you know what I mean. Teresa left him a dog anyway, so why suffer? But most likely Teresa just stayed in Rataje while Henry and Hans were on a diplomatic mission in Kuttenberg.

In addition, the developers claim that they have expanded the storyline from the problems of minor nobles and bandits to the problems of the whole kingdom. The storyline videos have been extended to 5 hours, and the game part has become almost twice as large, rich, and dynamic.

Battles and weapons

And finally, about the battles. Of course, they will become more epic and it is very evident. In the first part, we led a siege and destroyed the Talmberg Castle with a trebuchet, but now it looks like they’re shooting at us. In addition, there are new weapons, mostly earlymade shotguns and crossbows. The combat system remains authentic but without bugs. In addition, according to the game director, the second part has become what it was supposed to be at the very beginning, but they had neither the resources nor the experience to realize their plans. Instead, now they have increased their staff to 250 people from 11 at the beginning and have been working on the game for 6 years to ensure that players get a first-class experience of the game they have been imagining.

Feel the clash of steel as you engage in visceral combat in thrilling real-time battles. Attack on foot, on horse or by stealth as you master a range of authentic weapons and combat styles. Specialise in elegant sword forms, brutal blunt weapons or deadly ranged attacks.

I’m already looking forward to it! I’m really curious if they’ve tweaked the combat system so that you can win comfortably and without bugs in all tournaments or brutal battles. Without exaggeration, I adore their combat system, it’s learnable and unique with its physics and realism, it’s amazing even though many people don’t like it. And it’s logical because you don’t stagger around and swing your sword in all directions like a madman on steroids. I would like to see how they do it in real life.

According to the developers themselves, they want us to feel the sword in our hands, to feel the danger from the enemies and to fight for our lives in every battle. This is what makes the game unique, in my opinion.

Levelling and the Open World

Judging by the announcement, the levelling will not be much different from the previous series. Perhaps they will add new perks and skills because the reveal mentions blacksmithing along with alchemy. If in the first part alchemy is an active skill and Henry can brew his potions, then blacksmithing can be added as an active skill in the second part, which would be extremely cool, because Warhorse won’t compromise on realism. I can already imagine this process of forging my own spade at the furnace. In general, it is noted that the game is made to be interesting for both old and new players.

As in the first part, your actions will affect the development of the plot (certain parts of it, because the main plot is still static, or at least it was) and the attitude of people towards you. If you sneak into their estate at night and in the morning hand over their good to the miller, it is logical that the locals will not be friendly to you. And if you are given the power to punish the locals for crimes and hang everyone indiscriminately, this won’t give you any advantages either, not that anyone would allow you to do so anyway. But Henry, on the other hand, will now be able to be marked for maliciously breaking the law. So it gets more and more exciting, doesn’t it?

The world map in the first part is quite large, it contains several villages, two cities, a bunch of forests, two enemy fortresses, etc. There is plenty of space to explore and it is considered to be an open world. From the announcement of the second part of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, we can see that the world will be twice as big and will have large cities with taverns, baths, castles, churches, etc. According to the developers, the heart of the story in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the city of Kuttenberg, which you can see in the image above, but despite this, we will visit many other picturesque places with extraordinary views.

I’d also like to mention the approach to the music. The orchestra and choir under the direction of composer Jan Valta are working on it, and this is a huge plus for the entire series because high-quality and soulful music undoubtedly adds to the atmosphere of the game.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is planned for the end of 2024, and I can’t wait to play it as soon as possible. There’s a good chance I’ll be playing the game again in the fall before the second part comes out because I just can’t help myself not to.

That’s all for now, we’ll return to the topic of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with more announcements and news about the game. Thank you for watching my channel and reading my posts, I look forward to your comments and subscriptions. Have a nice day and bye!
