One Step From Eden Review

Meet our new post One Step From Eden Review. Here you will learn all in-game features and discover ratings to decide to play it or not.

Gameplay: One Step From Eden

Recently I came across Demo of One Step From Eden. This is one of the successfully kickstarted games, which managed to collect $70,000 (467% over expected) funds. So the game is an interesting action with elements of deck-building. Therefore, you will be able to build a deck of spells to help you plat the game better.

The progress in the game is similar to Slay the Spire. Known that developers drew inspiration from it. So in One Step from Eden is random and unique tree-map, there you can choose where to move. Therefore, what rooms to open and what to skip.

For every room that you clear you can choose one of the three rewards. Pick a new spell or upgrade and let’s move to the next room! Moreover, worth mention that the game is very dynamic. Each monster is unique and not only by its looks but also abilities. And bosses will make you try hard!

Graphics and Controls

The game designed in old-school 16-bit style. During the fight, you will see enemies attacks very clear. Although, we’d like to see more details, like animations of attacks or abilities. Also, abilities items could be better.

Further, let’s talk about the controls. You can play both keyboard and mouse, although, playing only with a mouse is enough. Controls are pretty easy – movement and 3-4 action buttons. Besides, you can bind them to fit your game style.

Sound and Narrative

Dynamic music will surround you all the game. That will give you drive into the gameplay. As for the narrative. In the demo, it is presented only with several short dialogues. We hope to see more storylines further when the game is released.

Summary:
Our reviews are based on five criteria that allow us to give the most accurate assessment of the game. Gameplay displays the main features of the game, mechanics and overall player’s game interaction. Narrative reveals the main storyline, well-written dialogue and the impact of the player’s actions on the world around them, as well as the atmosphere. Graphics shows how well a game looks visually, regardless of type and perspectives. Sound is how well the dialogue and sounds of the game are sounded, as well as how the music and soundtracks accompany the game. Last but not least, Controls are how comfortable they are and allow the player to expect full control over their character.

Total Score – 60/100

  • Gameplay – 7/10
  • Narrative – 6/10
  • Graphics – 6/10
  • Sound – 6/10
  • Controls – 5/10
