Ratropolis Review

Ratropolis is a real-time card game. There you will use cards to defend a rat’s city against enemies. The main purpose is to defend your upcoming enemies with quick judgment and swiftness. Moreover, you can build your own Ratropolis with various cards that you can get from playing the game. Further in our Ratropolis review you will see the explanation of all ratings. Besides, you can learn more information about developers if visit their official website.

Gameplay – Ratropolis Review

Ratropolis in a very harmonic way combines 2 different main genres – strategy and card games. You will need to put all your strength together to protect your base from 30 waves of ruthless zombie-monsters. You will be responsible for many things. For example, economy of the settlement, defenders’ placement and also solving of different situations that may occur during the game.

Card deck represents the gaming process. You take 5 cards, those can be buildings, units, skills or economy cards (those will give you gold). Further your task is to decide what cards to play and in what order, before you throw the remaining ones into the dump and pull out new cards.

Ratropolis is based on building a deck. You will receive or buy new cards, that in their turn will appear in your deck. Also, you can delete the cards from the deck that you don’t need. We turn your attention that there you won’t have much time on decision making Ratropolis is a real-time game! So you need to make all decisions quickly.

Now game has 4 leaders, each of them has a unique passive skill and a leader skill. In addition, a leader has his personal class cards. For the time being Ratropolis consists of 134 unique cards, so you will have from what to choose. Also, there are advisers – your helpers with unique passive skills. Enemies have lack of intelligence, but have special abilities. So you need to adjust to their game style.

Graphics and Controls

Ratropolis is a 2D side scroller, where your base is in the heart of attention. Enemies will attack your base from both right and left sides. Graphics do not shine with sophistication, although worth paying tribute to that locations and art works as they have their personal style.

There is an ability to bind some abilities to the keyboard. But it is pretty convenient to play the game using only a mouse.

Sound and Narrative – Ratropolis review

Music in Ratropolis has a special task – give you the atmosphere of zombie-apocalypses. But you don’t even pay too much attention to it during the game process.

As for the narrative. A short cinematic in the begging tells us about the events that lead to such circumstances. Greed is the main cause that destroyed rats’ civilization. And our task is to protect the leftovers of rats’ inhabitants from vanishing.

Summary:
Our reviews are based on five criteria that allow us to give the most accurate assessment of the game. Gameplay displays the main features of the game, mechanics and overall player’s game interaction. Narrative reveals the main storyline, well-written dialogue and the impact of the player’s actions on the world around them, as well as the atmosphere. Graphics shows how well a game looks visually, regardless of type and perspectives. Sound is how well the dialogue and sounds of the game are sounded, as well as how the music and soundtracks accompany the game. Last but not least, Controls are how comfortable they are and allow the player to expect full control over their character.

Total Score – 68/100

  • Gameplay – 8/10
  • Narrative – 6/10
  • Graphics – 7/10
  • Sound – 6/10
  • Controls – 7/10
