Wrath of the Lich King Classic Wyrmrest Accord Reputation Guide

Wrath of the Lich King Classic Wyrmrest Accord you will meet in Dragonblight. The reputation with Wyrmrest Accord is needed to get Reins of the Red Drake. We have described it in another post called All WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic Mounts and How to Get Them. Here you will learn how to get reputation with Wrath of the Lich King Classic Wyrmrest Accord.

What is Wrath of the Lich King Classic Wyrmrest Accord?

The Wyrmrest Accord is an alliance of the remaining four Dragonflights — Red, Bronze, Green, and even Black — against the Blue Dragonflight’s crusade. The Red Dragonflight is the most active of the four, with a large number of red dragons guarding Wyrmrest Temple itself. The faction is led by Alexstrasza the Life-Binder, and their home base is in the icy plain of Dragonblight at the Wyrmrest Temple. There is a second, smaller base at Coldarra in Borean Tundra.

Players who earn Exalted status can earn the right to ride a Red Dragon of their very own with the Reins of the Red Drake.

Who Needs Wyrmrest Accord Faction?

Anyone who wants to ride a sweet Red Dragon ride with the Reins of the Red Drake!

There are some other reasons to build The Wyrmrest Accord reputation. The main reason has to do with the Epic-level items available at Exalted. Most of the blue Honored/Revered items are solid pre-raid choices, but the Epic pieces are standouts.

  • Dragonfriend Bracers (leather bracers) are BiS for agility DPS leather wearers outside of high-end 25-player raid content. Rogues and Druids will be particularly interested in this.
  • Grips of Fierce Pronouncements (mail gloves) are also excellent for healers, particularly Restoration Shaman and even Holy Paladins.
  • Legplates of Bloody Reprisal (plate legs) are especially good for DPS plate wearers such as Blood Death Knights and Retribution Paladins.
  • Sandals of Crimson Fury (cloth boots) are also good, though not as outstandingly so as the other items.

Tailors and Jewelcrafters will also be interested in the reputation recipes available.

How to gain a Reputation with Wyrmrest Accord Faction?

There are several ways to improve your reputation with The Wyrmrest Accord, including Quest Lines, Daily Quests, Commendations, and Tabards/Dungeons.

These quest lines look long, but honestly, as long as you’re just doing normal questing through Dragonblight in particular, you’ll get all of these as you go. If you leveled in Howling Fjord instead of Borean Tundra, you may wish to head over to Amber Ledge to get on track to do the Coldarra quests.

Borean Tundra Quest Lines

The quest hub for Wyrmrest Accord faction in Borean Tundra is Coldarra. You will be send there after completing a series of quests in Amber Ridge, ending with a quest from Surristrasz, Traversing the Rift. Initial quests Nuts for Berries and Keep the Secret Safe give Kirin Tor rep instead of Wyrmrest Accord, but you will be doing these along with other quests you need for Wyrmrest Accord. These quests are needed to open the daily quest Aces High!, but not for anything at Wyrmrest Temple.

  • Basic Training
  • Hatching a Plan
  • Drake Hunt
  • Cracking the Code (becomes Drake Hunt

Dragonblight Quest Lines

To open the quest lines for Wyrmrest Accord, you need first to complete the quest lines in Star’s Rest and Agmar’s Hammer that are outlined under the Kirin Tor reputation guide’s Dragonblight Quests. These start with Your Presence is Required at Stars’ Rest / Your Presence is Required at Agmar’s Hammer and end with The End of the Line / The End of the Line.

After that, you’ll get an invitation to visit Wymrest Temple:

Daily Quests

There are three Daily Quests you can complete to build Wyrmrest Accord faction. Two are based out of Coldarra, and one is at Wyrmrest Temple. These each earn 250 reputation with Wyrmrest Accord.

Drake Hunt

Coldarra, Borean Tundra – Requires Level 71

Use Raelorasz’s Spear to subdue a Nexus Drake Hatchling and return it to Raelorasz at Transitus Shield. You have 3 minutes to return the drake, so make sure to get there before the timer expires.

This quest becomes a daily after you complete the first iteration, Drake Hunt, shortly into your questing in Coldarra.

Whatever you do, don’t engage the hatchlings in combat. If you’re a pet class, make sure your pets are set on passive or have been dismissed. The key word here is “subdue”. You won’t able to capture the drake if you end up in combat.

You also can’t use normal tricks to avoid damage. Paladin Divine Shield, Mages’ Ice Block, and Hunters’ Freezing Trap (just to name a few) will prevent the drake from being subdued, and using these after will also cause the drake to go free. Also, make sure you aren’t using a shield that damages the attacker.

There are several drakes flying around in the northwestern part of Coldarra, so just find a spot to get in range of one and throw a spear. It will come down and hit you for 25 seconds — and you must NOT engage it in battle at this point. Just let it hit you until it turns Friendly and you can return it. If you try walking away or mounting up before it turns Friendly (green name), it will break free and you will have to start over.

Once it’s Friendly, you can mount to return the drake. In fact, once you can fly, this quest becomes immeasurably easier to complete.

Defending Wyrmrest Temple

Wyrmrest Temple, Dragonblight – Requires Level 74

Lord Devrestrasz* at Wyrmrest Temple has asked you to slay 3 Azure Dragons, slay 5 Azure Drakes, and to destabilize the Azure Dragonshrine while riding a Wyrmrest Defender into battle.

*You will still see in old comment references with a different name for this NPC, but this name was changed to Devrestrasz to remove references to a controversial WoW ex-director.

Opening this daily quest requires that you’ve gone through several Wyrmrest introductory quests in Ruby Dragonshire in Dragonblight, starting with Gaining an Audience / Gaining an Audience and ending with Report to Lord Devrestrasz (see Dragonblight quests above).

Tariolstrasz on the bottom level or Torastrasza on the top level can transport you to the second level of the temple where Lord Devrestrasz will give you the quest Defending Wyrmrest Temple. Pro Tip: If you interact with any of these NPCs while mounted, they will not transport you. Dismount before asking them for a ride.

You will then need to interact with one of two Wyrmrest Defenders right outside on the balcony (doesn’t matter which one; I usually pick whichever doesn’t already have an Azure Dragon hovering right over it). This is a vehicle fight, where you will be given five different dragon abilities (only three will be needed — 1, 3, and 5). Unlike some other vehicle fights, though, you have to steer. If your Wyrmrest Defender dies, you will float to the ground and you’ll need to return to get another one.

You’ll usually encounter a couple Azure Dragons and Azure Drakes right out of the gate. Attack them with Flame Breath (Option 1) and use Renew (Option 3) whenever it’s off cooldown and you’re below 60% health. Head straight for the Azure Dragonshire area to the southwest (around /way 55 65) with a purple beam coming out; you’ll need to fight some dragons along the way, although staying low generally minimizes it. Fly directly into the beam and use Destabilize Azure Dragonshire (Option 5). On your way back, fight the remaining drakes and dragons, and return to Lord Devrestrasz on the second level.

Aces High!

Coldarra, Borean Tundra – Requires Level 80

Corastrasza on the upper ring of the Nexus in Coldarra wants you to ride her drake and kill 5 Scalesworn Elites.

This only opens up at the very end of the Coldarra questlines, and only after you’ve reached level 80. This starts as a “normal” quest, and turns into a daily after the first time you complete it.

There are as many strategies published for Aces High! as there are drakes in the air above Coldarra, so you may wish to experiment with a variety of tactics. Fortunately, many of these are published in the comments section for this daily quest (sort by Highest Rated). Try the different suggested tactics and see which works best for you.

Here is a video that shows how Aces High! works.

Commendation Badges

Wyrmrest Commendation Badges can be clicked to increase your Wyrmrest Accord reputation by 520. They are bind on pickup, so you cannot purchase or trade these items. Archmage Timear in Dalaran (near Violet Hold, /way 64.2 54.4) gives one of four daily dungeon quests, and the Wyrmrest Commendation Badge are just one of the commendation badge options you can choose as your reward. Completing all four quests awards the achievement Timear Foresees. The minimum level for these quests is 78.

(Note: the option to buy commendations with Justice Points was not added until Cataclysm).

Tabards and Dungeons

At Friendly reputation, you can purchase the Tabard of the Wyrmrest Accord from the Quartermaster. Wearing this in level 80 Heroic dungeons will channel all reputation gains to Wyrmrest Accord instead of to Alliance Vanguard or Horde Expedition.

You can also run the following level 80 dungeons on Normal with the tabard, but you’ll earn less reputation than if you run them on Heroic:

  • Halls of Lightning
  • The Culling of Stratholme
  • The Oculus
  • Utgarde Pinnacle

Gaining Exalted with Kirin Tor earns the achievement The Wyrmrest Accord. It also contributes to one of the four reputations required for Northrend Vanguard.

The Wyrmrest Accord also counts toward achievements for multiple reputations, such as 40 Exalted Reputations, which earns the title %s the Exalted.

The Wyrmrest Accord Quartermaster, Cielstrasza, is located on the top floor of Wymrest Accord.

We have taken the guideline from WoWHead.
