All WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic Mounts and How to Get Them

WoW WOTLK classic had many mounts available in specific times or conditions. A player needs to know how to farm and where to get mounts in WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic so we decided to let you know that.

Below we will describe all mounts that you can get in WOTLK. Some you can buy others will unlock only if you meet the requirements. We will describe all of the conditions and tips to get mounts in WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

Mount Training in The Wrath of the Lich King

First of all the required level in WOTLK to buy the first mount will decrease in WOTLK from the 30th level in TBC to the 20th level in the Wrath of the Lich King. But the first mount adds 60% movement speed instead of 100% speed. The riding skill for the slow mount costs 4 gold (before applying any faction discounts) and will require level 20.

At level 40 you will unlock 100% movement speed and will be able to buy fast ground mounts.

First flying mounts with 150% movement speed you unlock at level 70. You will also need to learn Expert Riding which is required to ride this mount you will need to be level 70. The only exception to this will be Druids. Druids can slow fly at level 68 when they get flight form. Expert Riding will cost 250 gold and then you will need to spend an additional 50 gold to buy the mount.

The fast-flying mount requires Artisan Riding and costs 200 gold. And the fast-flying mount costs 5000 gold. That is pretty expensive, but the mount moves at 280% movement speed.

Cold Weather Flying

But all of the mentioned above about flying mounts will not work in Northrend if you don’t unlock Cold Weather Flying. Which costs 1000 gold and will require level 77. You can buy Cold Weather Flying in Dalaran at Krasus’ Landing.

As for the alts (the next character that you level up), it will be easier to unlock Cold Weather Flying. Go to Hira Snowdawn – Cold Weather Flying Trainer (in Dalaran) and purchase a Tome of Cold Weather Flying. This will allow your alt to fly in Northrend at level 68. The tome is bound to your account.

Hira Snowdawn isn’t a member of any faction, and the prices remain the same for all the riding skills:

Below you will find the list of all WOTLK mounts but grouped by the way you acquire them.

Wrath of the Lich King Class Mounts

In Wrath of the Lich King, there are no new races but there is one where specific class, called Death Knight. Death Knights have their personal class mounts.

Winged Steed of the Ebon Blade you will also get for free but it changes speed depending on your Riding skill. And if you didn’t learn flying you will not be able to fly on it. Also, you can summon it only in Outland and Northrend.

Teeth are acquired by completing daily quests given to you by the venomhide hatchling you receive when you accept the quest. Since the hatchling only gives you one quest a day and therefore one tooth a day, it will take 20 days to get this mount.

Drop only Mounts

Time-Lost Proto-Drake

Time-Lost Proto-Drake

This mount drops from Time-Lost Proto Drake, Rare Elite Dragon that can be found in Storm Peaks.

Invincible’s Reins

There is a 5% chance that Invincible’s Reins will drop from The Lich King in Icecrown Citadel Heroic (25).

Mimiron’s Head

Requires to farm Hard Mode of Ulduar and drops from Yogg-Saron (25).

Yogg-Saron has a hard mode with four different “difficulties”. After defeating each Keeper of Ulduar, you can talk to them in the Observation Ring, and they will offer their assistance in the form of mechanics that aid in the fight or allow for Sanity regeneration. The difficulty is increased as you don’t ask the keepers for their help. Hard Mode loot is obtained with only 1 Keeper aiding you (known as “1 Light”). Defeating Yogg-Saron with no Keepers aiding you (“0 Light”) will also grant one Mimiron’s Head in addition to the Hard Mode loot.

X-45 Heartbreaker

The common drops from the seasonal bosses (the necklaces from Hummel, the trinkets from Coren, etc.) will still drop from the bosses themselves. The rare items, however, will come from a container like the Heart-Shaped Box that drops from the boss for each person in the group once per day. Under this method one can do the boss an infinite number of times per day and acquire all of his/her common drops while not being able to farm for the rare drops.
