Chroma: Bloom & Blight, a story-rich competitive card game has received 28,000€ of its Kickstarter target in just 48 hours!

Stuttgart, Germany 16th April 2020 Chroma: Bloom & Blight has made an impressive opening to its crowdfunding campaign, receiving 28,000€ support in the opening 48 hours, which is over 25%of the game’s Kickstarter target.

Chroma: Bloom and Blight is a competitive card game that will transport players into a wonderful, lore-rich world with deep narrative, mysterious characters, and meaningful card interactions. All the traditional complexities of a card game are present in Chroma, what’s even better, is the fact that you’ll never have to buy a single card-pack in Chroma: Bloom & Blight

The decision was made early in the game’s development to provide players with every single card in the game! Yes, that’s right, all cards and leaders in Chroma are instantly available in the player’s collection. No more buying packs! No more grinding dailies! No more chasing the ‘meta’ deck! You can still chase the meme deck though, meme decks are always welcomed.

This unique approach allows the developers to stay away from the traditional ‘set expansions’ that become routine every few months. Instead, they have the opportunity to add new cards to the game with a more organic, narrative-friendly schedule.

Despite the completely free-to-play model of Chroma, at its heart, it’s a seriously competitive card game. The monetisation model for the game actually makes Chroma more competitive than its rivals; with every player having access to all the cards from the start winning comes down to the skill of both deckbuilding and card sequencing, rather than which player has the better cards in their collection. The joy of this monetization plan can be experienced right now in the Chroma demo, which already offers players 160 cards, 16 leaders and a huge variety of deckbuilding options.

The current playable demo is an alpha build of the game and allows players to get whisked away in Chroma’s gameplay and extensive deckbuilding options. At present, the demo allows players to learn the game through a tutorial, play in both online and offline casual matches and even compete against other players in ranked online matches. Currently, the demo is only playable on PC, a Mac build is on the way.

The development team is also in active talks with the Esport tournament organising website Challonge to offer players an in-game tournament client at launch. This would allow any player to create and host tournaments within Chroma; whether it’s a casual tournament with friends or a prize-fuelled battle of the best – everything will be set up directly in-game.

Chroma: Bloom & Blight’s Kickstarter campaign launched on the 13th April and since then has received over 28,000€ in support, which is over 25% of the games total crowdfunding target. You can support the game at a variety of different tiers, all of which bring different rewards and 50% of your pledge back as in-game currency when the game launches later this year (in-game currency will be used to buy cosmetic items only).

If Chroma: Bloom & Blight achieves its Kickstarter goal the developers are aiming for a full release in November 2020, with planned closed and open beta periods starting from July 2020. At launch the base game will release with:

  • A base set of over 280 cards and over 25 leaders
  • An in-game tournament mode (in partnership with Challonge)
  • Draft mode -Lore discovery (a lore-based progression system)
  • Full artwork for all cards

Chroma: Bloom & Blight is a huge passion project for the development team, especially lead designer Philipp Baumgart. Philipp is available for interviews and would love the opportunity to talk more about Chroma. If you’re interested in setting up an interview, then please reply to this press release.
