Cryo Element Genshin Impact

There are seven elements in Genshin Impact that form gameplay. The game is based on elemental reactions and different combinations that support your fighting performance. Cryo is one of the first active elements added to the game. This post will tell you how the Cryo element works in Genshin Impact.

What element is Cryo?

Cryo is sup-dps and control element. Cryo triggers reactions with 5 out of six elements. Below you can see the Cryo resonance effects and all Cryo reactions.

It is also worth knowing about the distinguishing symbols of the Cryo element. This is the icon and the colour. We will use them in this and future posts to denote the Cryo element.

Also, each element in Genshin Impact has its own zone and archon. The homeland of the Cryo element is Snezhnaya and the name of the archon is Tsaritsa.

Cryo Resonance

Elemental Resonance activates in Genshin Impact when you have at least two characters with the same active element. Depending on the element it activates the relevant resonance and specific bonuses. The Cryo Resonance is the following:

• Shattering Ice: Affected by Electro for 40% less time. Increases CRIT Rate against enemies that are Frozen or affected by Cryo by 15%.

This makes Cryo Resonance useful for aggressive teams with physical damage under the freeze.

Cryo Reactions

Each element in Genshin Impact has specific elements reactions that determine its gameplay options. Different carriers of the corresponding element use it differently, which also affects the style of play, but the reactions themselves have certain invariable effects regardless of the game character.

Cryo has Elemental Reactions with all other elements. The effects are the following:

• Superconduct: Deals AoE Cryo DMG and reduces the Physical RES of enemies caught in the AoE by 40%.
• Frozen: Freezes the target. If the frozen target is hit by a Claymore, a Plunge Attack, or Geo DMG, it will cause Shattered. Shattering a frozen target will deal additional Physical DMG.
• Melt: Deals ×1.5 Cryo DMG when a Cryo attack triggers the reaction.
• Swirl: Deals AoE Cryo DMG while spreading the Cryo status to nearby enemies.
• Crystallize: Creates a Cryo shield.

Cryo Status

Cryo is a status effect that reduces overall character speed. While affected by the Cryo status, all animation speed will decrease by 15%. This animation speed decrease stacks multiplicatively with Attack Speed and Movement Speed. This is not to be confused with Sheer Cold, an environmental mechanic that is the result of the Subzero Climate.

Unlike other elements, the Cryo status can also be applied to certain objects, such as Ores, Thunderwoods, Thunder Dwellings, and Amber’s Baron Bunny, and can allow certain elemental reactions to occur on such objects.
