What is the most important when you make a team comp in Genshin Impact is to remember that your characters must work together. Their talents need to assist each other and only via reactions. Some characters have talents that will change the whole impression about them when you see their talents.
Like any other character, Yelan has two types of talents – active and passive. The whole description of Yelan’s skills (talents) you can read via the link. In this post, we focus on the basic strategies and will explain what Yelan talents are worth paying attention to. Let’s start with talent priority for Barbara.
Depth-Clarion Dice is Yelan’s Elemental Burst. Deals AoE Hydro DMG and creates an “Exquisite Throw,” which aids her in battle. Exquisite Throw:
Follows the character around and will initiate a coordinated attack under the following circumstances, dealing Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP:
Lingering Lifeline is Yelan’s Elemental Skill. Fires off a Lifeline that allows her to move rapidly, entangling and marking opponents along its path. When this rapid movement ends, the Lifeline will explode, dealing Hydro DMG to the marked opponents based on Yelan’s Max HP. Moves a certain distance forward swiftly on tapping. Engages in a continuous, swift movement, during which Yelan’s resistance to the interruption is increased on hold. During this time, Yelan can control this rapid movement and end it by using this Skill again.
Additionally, each opponent marked by the Lifeline when it explodes grants Yelan a 34% chance to reset her Breakthrough state.
Stealthy Bowshot is Yelan’s Normal Attack. Nothing special. The normal attack works as at any other character with a bow. Perform a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG. While aiming, flowing water will accumulate on the arrowhead. A fully charged torrential arrow will deal Hydro DMG.
Yelan will enter a “Breakthrough” state after spending 5s out of combat, which will cause her next Charged Aimed Shot to have 80% decreased charge time, and once charged, she can fire a “Breakthrough Barb” that will deal AoE Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP.

When the party has 1/2/3/4 Elemental Types, Yelan’s Max HP is increased by 6%/12%/18%/30%.

So long as an Exquisite Throw is in play, your own active character deals 1% more DMG. This increases by a further 3.5% DMG every second. The maximum increase to DMG dealt is 50%.
The pre-existing effect will be dispelled if Depth-Clarion Dice is recast during its duration.
Depending on what we have written above we will continue with character combinations that will suit Genshin Impact Yelan team the most. But as for Yelan, you need to get C6 because on C6 Yelan will automatically revive one fallen character with 100% HP. The cooldown is 15 mins.
There are several roles that all characters obtain in Genshin Impact. Your perfect team would consist of the Main DPS, 2 SUB-DPS characters and one Support. Main DPS is occupied by a character that can deal a decent amount of damage from all sources, auto attacks, elemental reactions and elemental bursts. Sub DPSs are needed to activate reactions that boost the main DPS’ damage or deal some extra damage while the main DPS is sticking their elemental burst. Support can vary typically it is a healer/shielder, but in some cases, it can be a battery (the character that stacks elemental burst for the team) or a spreader (the character that can spread reactions activated by all the characters).
Yelan is a sub-DPB character needed to apply Hydro on every attack (better Xingqiu). Below you can see some options for different Genshin Impact Yelan team comps that we find decent. But let’s start from the Genshin Impact free-to-play Yelan team comp.
Kaeya can be changed to Barbara if you need a healer. Lisa is needed to activate Electro for reactions. Yelan is a sub-DPS with great Hydro implementation on every hit (after Elemental Burst). So Kaeya and Xiangling act as the main-DPS (by your choice).
Yelan applies AoE Hydro attachment that comes from Elemental Skill and also Elemental Burst. This attachment follows the active character and attacks under specific circumstances dealing Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP. So she needs any main Pyro DPS (Hu Tao, Diluc, etc.). Yun Jin provides Normal ATK Bonus and Normal ATK SPD Bonus at C6. Bennett increases damage (ATK by 25%) with Fervent Flames (Elemental Resonance with Yoimiya) and provides buffs and healing for the team.
Hu Tao’s Elemental Burst provides a huge amount of damage and continuous Pyro element attachment for Yelan to trigger Vaporization. Yelan is the Sub DPS in this team. Yelan can provide continuous Hydro attack off-field which reacts with the Pyro element on enemies applied by Hu Tao. Yelan’s Elemental Burst can also increase DMG of Hu Tao via her passive talent. Raiden Shogun is an off-field Electro implier. Zhongli’s shield provides safe environment for team members, and increase ATK of whole team by using full set of Tenacity of the Millelith.
These characters can be used in different teams with Yelan as well. But this is not a team as such.
