How to Improve Your Aim in Valorant

Aim training

It may seem commonplace, but nonetheless – Shooting Simulator in Practice Mode is a great way to learn how to shoot quickly and accurately.

Thanks to various difficulty settings, you can choose the optimal level to start training and gradually hone your skills. In addition, you can try different weapons in action and choose the right one. Try to spend several minutes every day and 5-10 minutes of training before the matches daily will be a great way to increase the accuracy of your shooting.

Mouse sensitivity

An important role is played by how fast your cursor moves in the game. To do this, first of all, you should understand what Mouse Sensitivity, DPI and eDPI are. DPI (Dots per Inch) is the number of pixels that the cursor moves on the monitor, depending on how far you move the mouse. This indicator directly depends on the characteristics of your mouse. But eDPI (Effective Dots per Inch) directly depends on Mouse Sensitivity, which can be configured in the game. In other words, eDPI = DPI x Mouse Sensitivity. Therefore, no matter what DPI your mouse has, thanks to the Sensitivity settings, you can achieve eDPI like pro players.

Nevertheless, each player adjusts eDPI to suit his playing style, because even for pro players it varies from 150 to 1000. Therefore, we advise you to change the Sensitivity settings several times until you find the optimal ones for you personally. The easiest way is to start with Low Sensitivity and gradually increase as needed. Also, the gaming mouse pad will significantly improve the accuracy of shooting, so we do not recommend neglecting it.

Customise your crosshair

Surely you have already noticed that Valorant has a separate tab “Crosshair” in the Settings menu. These settings allow you to completely change the look of the game crosshair.

For each player, the settings will be radically different, because it depends on personal preferences. But we recommend using the simplest and smallest in size. For instance:

Crosshair placement

When you watch a game about players, did you think about how they quickly react to a player who suddenly jumped around the corner and immediately kill him with one headshot? This is not magic or super-intuition, and this can be learned.

Two main factors will help in this – knowledge of the map and the correct position of the crosshair. When you study the map and you know the main spots, you should proceed to the correct movement on the map. Always keep your crosshair at about the same level as your opponent’s head. And change the height only when you should check the hills or balconies. One of the most common mistakes made by newcomers is that they look at the floor or at their feet, and while they lift and aim at the head, they get killed. Because if the player is already holding the cursor correctly, he only needs to pull the trigger.

Another important point – do not move along the corridors close to the wall. Stay a little further from the walls not to give yourself out ahead of time when you turn the corner. If you need to look around the corner, break this turn into several parts. Check the back part, then slightly turn the cursor sideways, checking the centre and only then the last section in a straight line. This will give you more time to react to the enemy and it will be easier for you to aim (without taking into account the fact that your cursor is already in the right position) than just run out to the centre and only then aim at the opponents.

Recoil control

We think you already managed to notice that if you hold down the left mouse button while shooting, then after a certain number of shots the cursor will begin to deviate upward. Each weapon in Valorant has its own unique spray pattern, and it is very important to know how to lower the cursor down so that the bullets fly to the starting position in which the cursor was at the moment the shooting started. And by the way, the first 3-5 bullets fired are practically not affected by recoil, so you should often shoot in small bursts to maximize the accuracy of fire.
