Path of Exile Siege of the Atlas Mechanics

With Zana gone, Kirac took over responsibility for protecting Wraeclast from the inhabitants of Atlas. After the killing of Sirius and the appearance of Maven, two more new Eldritch Horrors will infiltrate Atlas – The Eater of Worlds and The Searing Exarch. How to find them and how Atlas has changed, we will tell in this guide.

Pinnacle content and epilogue quests

Siege of the Atlas has greatly simplified Atlas progression. Now there is no need to keep track of Watchstones in order to advance on the quest to capture and kill the main boss, just keep track of map tiers. After completing the main story of the game and killing Kitava, you will find yourself on Karui Shores, where you will meet with Kirac and open Atlas.

From now on, you simply clear the available maps, gradually moving up as the map tiers increase. Very soon (maps tier 3+) you will meet The Envoy who will open The Maven quest. We described in more detail Maven and her quests in a separate article. The Envoy will meet you a few more times until it says that Maven is already here (maps tier 5+) and gives The Maven’s Beacon, which allows you to summon Maven to kill the boss on the map. It will automatically be added to the Map Device, just click on it with Maven’s Beacon in your inventory. For its appearance, it is important to use a map of the corresponding tier (6-8+), which tier is needed for its appearance will be indicated in the quest.

After Maven sees the killing of three bosses, she will give an Invitation to her arena, but most importantly, on the same map, you will meet her and The Envoy. They will give you one of the items, Flesh Compass or Luminous Astrolabe which allow you to add the appropriate influence to the map. They work similarly to The Maven’s Beacon, just add them to the Map Device and use maps of the required tiers 9-11+ (the current requirements are indicated in the quest).

On the third influence map, you will get the second item (Flesh Compass or Luminous Astrolabe) from Maven and The Envoy. It will allow you to chase the second Eldritch Horrors, the search for which is similar to the first one that opened up for you. Also, killing the boss on this map will drop a Writhing Invitation or Polaric Invitation.

It will open an arena map with one of the bosses, depending on influence – Infinite Hunger (Writhing) or The Black Star (Polaric). Defeat the boss and the second part of the quest will unlock.

Finding the main boss is similar to finding its predecessor, minor boss Infinite Hunger or The Black Star. However, now it is necessary to clear five maps of high tiers – starting from 12+ and up to 16+ tiers (the current requirements for maps are indicated in the quest). As a result, you will receive a Screaming Invitation (The Eater of Worlds) or an Incandescent Invitation (The Searing Exarch). Killing the boss will bring valuable rewards, as well as resetting his seak a second time.

For killing them on the quest you will receive rewards – Atlas Book of Skill (grants 1 Atlas Passive Skill Point and two Atlas Passive Respec Skill) and the corresponding Voidstone (Grasping Voidstone or Omniscient Voidstone). You can learn more about how to get the other two in this article Path of Exile: Siege of the Atlas Voidstones.

After killing The Eater of Worlds and The Searing Exarch on the quest, keep farming tier 14+ influence maps to get an invitation to fight them. However, you will now receive a Writhing Invitation (Screaming Invitation) or Polaric Invitation (Incandescent Invitation) which are now tradeable with other players. In addition, they can be crafted in the same way as regular maps, adding modifiers that, in addition to difficulty, will also increase the rewards for killing these bosses.

Altars

When killing monsters on influence maps, you will encounter altars. They do not have to be activated, but if you wish, you can strengthen the monsters or the boss on the map, or modify your character. This will make clearing the current map more difficult while increasing the rewards received. These modifiers only work on the map on which you activated the altar, while there may be several altars on the map.

Kirac missions

Now instead of Zana, Atlas mission can be obtained from Kirac. They are somewhat similar to the old version of the missions (clearing maps with a condition), but some of the mechanics have been changed. Now you can not add missions to the map, as it was before. Also, Kirac doesn’t spawn on the map as Zana did. To compensate for this, the chance of receiving Kirac missions has been increased. The new missions will feature a wide range of different missions, including league mechanics such as Ritual and Prophecy.

You can also get a new kind of currency items from mobs on maps – Scouting Report. They allow you to reroll Kirac’s missions, with special conditions:

Kirac will also be selling maps and related items, and the list will grow. Now, in addition to Cartographer’s Chisels and various divination cards, players will also be able to buy currency items such as Orb of Unmaking (Grants an atlas passive skill refund point) and Surveyor’s Compass (Store a Sextant Modifier in an Item).

Voidstones

Since Watchstones have been removed from the game, there is a new option to increase the minimum tier of maps – Voidstones. They increase the tier of maps of the entire Atlas and not a specific region as before. There are only four, but they are much more difficult to get than Watchstones. You can find out how they work and are obtained in this article:

Path of Exile: Siege of the Atlas Voidstones

Favoured Maps

This is a system that allows players to get the maps they like the most more often. Unlike the previous one, which was tied to a region, the new mechanic allows you to influence the entire Atlas, increasing the chance to meet a favoured map tenfold. In this case, you can choose the same map several times, further increasing the chances of getting it.

A total of 12 map slots are available, and each of them has its own conditions for opening it. Below you can see how to unlock all favoured maps slots on Atlas:

  • Complete a Tier 16 Map
  • Defeat an Elder Guardian
  • Defeat a Shaper Guardian
  • Defeat a Conqueror of the Atlas
  • Defeat Sirus, Awakener of Worlds
  • Defeat Venarius in the Cortex
  • Defeat The Shaper
  • Defeat The Elder in The Shaper’s Realm
  • Defeat The Maven
  • Defeat The Eater of Worlds
  • Defeat The Searing Exarch
  • Complete Maven’s Invitation: The Feared

These are conditions that apply at once as you complete them.
