Shakedown Hawaii Review

Shakedown Hawaii is an action-adventure indie game created and published by Vblank Entertainment, inc. It is available for Nintendo Switch and coming soon to Steam, so anyone will be able to create their one business legacy in the world of Skakedown Hawaii really soon.

Moreover, you need to know that Shakedown: Hawaii is the sequel to the popular game Retro City Rampage. Besides, here you will manage your company. Everything you’ll see on the island you can buy to create a business corporation. It seems interesting, isn’t it? So let’s move to the ratings of the categories by which we rank the games. Those are gameplay, controls, graphics, sound and narrative of course.

Shakedown Hawaii – Gameplay

First of all, this 16 bit game is rather easy but extremely interesting. It has an open-world and with all the possible gameplay actions it really seems like an action-adventure “GTA-Like” game. Those of you who knows first series of GTA will find gameplay understandable and familiar. Here you can complete missions and move around any location in the city freely. Moreover, you’ll get your own weapon arsenal and complete freedom of actions.

Beside, in Shakedown: Hawaii you will have an ability to feel yourself on the place of a real CEO of a company called Feeble Inc. The ability to buy property and increase your income is an integral part of the game.

Above all other game peculiarities is humor. Each mission is accompanied by jokes and parodies on pop-culture. Besides, you’ll see funny jokes around genre cliche in games, movies and other media.

Certainly you can customize your character and change its hair and outfit in numerous salons and shops.

Graphics

Very detailed graphics in 16 bit world. The island looks rather alive. That gives the game a special atmosphere. Besides, you’ll see a very stylish retro graphics that certainly makes the game look great.

Sound

Soundtrack returns us to the 90s, what makes the game even more atmospheric. Nevertheless, variety of music and sounds leaves much to be desired. For the reason that in some hours they become too repetitive.

Shakedown Hawaii – Controls

You’ll meet intuitive control, but sometimes it becomes inconvenient during gun fights. As auto-aim picks targets other then ones you’d desire to shoot. Moreover, top-down view controls in 2D games during car driving is not very handy.

Narrative

You’ll meet a linear story where you try to save your company from bankruptcy. Also, you’ll see a lot of side-missions and special actions. Like claiming control over the city with a shakedown.

With a help of Shakedown you can obtain businesses with force or other dirty methods. From destruction of all equipment inside the building to handing out defamatory leaflets. Sadly, the only thing you’ll get from getting other businesses it’s increase your portfolio and income, nothing more.

After competing all missions you’ll get a prize for ending a story-line. Even thought you can continue playing Shakedown Hawaii doing absolutely everything you like.

Do you have any questions or suggestions? Please, share them in the comments.
