Teamfight Tactics Dark Star Build Guide

We continue our TFT builds series. Today we will write about Dark Star trait champions and item sets that suit them most. Also in out Teamfight Tactics Dark Star Build Guide, you will learn about the best Dark Start build and champions combination.

TFT Dark Start trait

Dark start champions have some bonuses related to there trait. Those are:

When a Dark Star Champion dies all other allied Dark Star Champions gain Attack Damage and Spell Power.

3 ⇒ +25 Attack Damage and Spell Power
6 ⇒ +35 Attack Damage and Spell Power
9 ⇒ +45 Attack Damage and Spell Power

Yes, there are only 7 Dark Star champions. How can you collect 9? Easy, you will need to get Dark Star’s Heart item. It will give one of your champions Dark Star trait. You can combine Spatula and Sparring Gloves to get it.

TFT Dark Start champions

So the following champions have Dark Star trait in TFT:

The one that costs 1 gold is:

  • Jarvan IV (Dark Star and Protector)
Jarvan calls down his standard to a nearby location granting all nearby allies 50%/75%/100% Attack Speed for 6 seconds.

The one that costs 2 gold is:

  • Mordekaiser (Dark Star and Vanguard)
Mordekaiser gains a shield for that absorbs 350/500/800 damage over 8 seconds. While the shield persists Mordekaiser deals 50/75/125 magic damage per second to all nearby enemies.

There are three Dark Star champions that cost 3 gold:

  • Karma (Dark Star and Mystic)
At the start of combat Karma bonds to her closest ally.
Karma grants the bonded ally (or a random one if that ally is dead) a 250/400/800-health shield for 4 seconds. While the shield holds the ally receives 0.35/0.50/1.00 bonus Attack Speed.
  • Lux (Dark Star and Sorcerer)
Lux fires a sphere of darkness towards the farthest enemy. Enemies in its path take 200/300/600 magic damage and are stunned for 1.50/2.00/2.50 seconds.
  • Shaco (Dark Star and Infiltrator)
Shaco teleports and backstabs his target for 1.50% of his Basic Attack damage. This is also always a critical hit. (Total: 3.00%/3.25%/3.50%)

The one that cost 4 gold is:

  • Jhin (Dark Star and Sniper)
Passive: Jhin converts each 1% of bonus Attack Speed he has into 0.8 Attack Damage.
Passive: Every fourth shot Jhin deals 2.44%/3.44%/44.44% damage. (Total: )

And the last Dar Star champion is:

  • Xerath (Dark Star and Sorcerer)
Xerath transforms summoning meteors to strike random foes in place of his normal attacks for 6/8/45 seconds. Meteors deal 350/450/2500 magic damage upon impact and if they kill their target all adjacent enemies take 175/225/1250 magic damage and are stunned for 1.50 seconds.

Dark Star Build Guide – Best item sets

Here is the list of items that feet Dark Star champions the most.

Jarvan IV shows his best with tanky and supporting items. Such as Zz’Rot Portal, Redemption, Zephyr, Frozen Heart, Bramble Vest, Locket of the Iron Solari, Warmog’s Armor, and Thief’s Gloves.

On the other hand, Mordekaiser will be great with a combination of AP damage and tanky items. As follows, Morellonomicon, Bramble Vest, Ionic Spark, Warmog’s Armor, Zz’Rot Portal, Dragon’s Claw, Redemption, and Titan’s Resolve.

As for Karma. You can adapt her according to the situation. She can be a support or an AP carry. All depends on the item set you choose from these items: Zeke’s Herald, Locket of the Iron Solari, Zephyr, Chalice of Favor, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Redemption, Seraph’s Embrace, and Spear of Shojin.

Lux is a brilliant AP carry. The possible item set for her can contain Morellonomicon, Luden’s Echo, Zephyr, Seraph’s Embrace, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Gauntlet, Redemption, and Thief’s Gloves.

Shaco can be good as AD carry with the following items: Guardian Angel, Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, Hextech Gunblade, Last Whisper, Hand Of Justice, Deathblade, and Quicksilver.

Jhin is a classical AD carry. So you should pick an item set from Infinity Edge, Guardian Angel, Runaan’s Hurricane, Last Whisper, Trap Claw, Bloodthirster, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, and Giant Slayer.

Naturally, Xerath should have AP damage. So here are the items that suit him best: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Morellonomicon, Quicksilver, Jeweled Gauntlet, Seraph’s Embrace, Luden’s Echo, and Trap Claw.

So as you can see Dark Star Build is very aggressive. You can collect champions that deal a lot of AP and AD damage. Moreover, there are really good tanks with Dark Star trait as well. Recently I played only with Dark Star champions (but, I couldn’t manage to get Xerath so I picked Echo) and took the first place in that match. Even though you should try different combinations with other traits. Try to figure out what can be the best yourself using TFT patch notes. Meanwhile, we will write further in our Teamfight Tactics Dark Star Build Guide about the most popular and effective Dark Star champions combinations with other traits.

Best Dark Star Team Comps

So the best Dark Star build consists of such trait combinations:

7 ⇒ Dark Star (golden bonus)
2 ⇒ Sniper (golden bonus)
2 ⇒ Mystic (silver bonus)
2 ⇒ Celestial (bronze bonus)
2 ⇒ Sorcerer (bronze bonus)

As for the champions that fit this combination. The strongest and the most popular Dark Star comp contains Jarvan IV, Mordekaiser, Ashe, Karma, Kassadin, Lux, Shaco, Jhin, Lulu, Xerath. Let me add that even without the legendary champions you can win. That will be easy if other players don’t collect the same comp. As far as we know the cards that you see deal from the shared pool. So you are likely to see the cards that others don’t collect. In that case, you’ll have 2-star champions very quickly and may become unstoppable.

If you don’t feel like play for Dark Star champions you can choose other traits. We are going to write build guides for each trait, so you’ll pick something that suits you the most. For now, we have only TFT Rebel Build Guide subscribe to know about the next guide first!
