World of Warcraft Classic Leveling Guide

WoW Classic differs from other MMOs, especially in the difficulty of leveling. Leveling takes a lot of time from 5-7 days to a month to reach the coveted 60th level. And for players not familiar with the world of WoW, it is even more difficult! In this guide, we tried to collect the basic principles of leveling and give advice to players on how to simplify and speed up this process.

Leveling Methods

There are three main methods of leveling up and you shouldn’t dwell on just one, especially if you are playing for the first time. It will be much more convenient and interesting to combine them, enjoying the exploration of the world and interacting with other players.

Questing

The easiest way to level up in WoW Classic is by completing quests. There are quite a few of them, although at first glance it may seem that their number is not enough for comfortable pumping. Unlike Retail WoW, in Classic, you will have to travel to different zones to complete quests. Therefore, if there are only high-lvl quests (red) or difficult (orange) in the zone, it will be wiser to change the zone and return after a while, having raised the level.

Grouping up

WoW Classic is primarily an MMO, so very often you will have to join groups (unless of course you are playing with friends). Some quests are designed for 2-5 people (for example, quests with the Elite or Dungeon tag), and together it is more fun and faster to clear the location. But keep in mind that when you are in a group, the experience for killing mobs is reduced. But this does not apply to the experience gained for completing quests – it only changes from your level.

Dungeons

Another way to level up quickly and without wasting time moving around the world (well, except for a few times when you have to get to the entrance) is Dungeons. Gather a group and clear the dungeon several times, gaining impressive experience in an hour and tons of loot. If you do not have a guild in which it is easiest to find people for farming dungeons, then it would be wiser to take a class and/or spec that can tank or heal, because this will make finding the group much easier. The best option for farming dungeons is:

Alliance / Horde / Contested

  • Ragefire Chasm (Levels 13-18)
  • The Deadmines (Levels 16-23)
  • Wailing Caverns (Levels 18-25)
  • The Stockade (Levels 23-30)
  • Shadowfang Keep (Levels 23-30)
  • Scarlet Monastery (Levels 30-44)
  • Zul’Farrak (Levels 44-49)
  • Blackrock Depths (Levels 49-56)
  • Lower Blackrock Spire (Levels 56-60)

Grinding

Not the most interesting, but nevertheless a good alternative for leveling, especially for magicians and beast hunters. The thing is that the player finds a place in the zone where there is a sufficient accumulation of mobs (it will be a plus if they are not needed for quests, then no one will bother you). And he clears this territory over and over again, gaining experience for killing mobs (and good loot, especially if you farm special mobs), instead of moving around locations to complete quests.

Recommended leveling routes

Also, we suggest you study this map. It has all locations and zones with level edges.

In WoW Classic it is very important to choose the questing zone. Get ready for the fact that you have to cross the continent in order to rise 1-2 levels, and then return to the previous location. There are not very many quests and there is a very wide range of levels, so do not try to do high-lvl (red) quests, especially alone. It is much easier to level up in other zones or go to the dungeon. This table contains not all zones, but only those that are the best for leveling:

Class and Weapon Trainers

All classes in WoW Classic can use more than one type of weapon. But for this, you need to learn the appropriate weapon skill. This can be done in the capitals of your faction. And the faster the better! After all, the more types of weapons are available to you, the easier it is to find an upgrade, this is especially important for melee classes. Learning to handle a new type of weapon will cost 10 silver coins, except for Polearms – you will have to pay one gold coin for this skill.

General Leveling Tips

Rested Experience

Remember to log out in rested zones (usually taverns or the capital). To understand that you are in the rested zone, just look at the portrait of your character in the upper corner – if he is glowing and over your level is a circle with “zzz” – then you will receive bonus exp. For every 8 hours while you are not in the game, a character in the rested zone will receive 5% bonus experience, depending on your level, for killing mobs. If you exit the game elsewhere, you will also receive bonus experience, but much slower – 5% for every 32 hours. The maximum you can get is up to 150% experience, which will be a great bonus after a few days of absence from the game.

Upgrading Your Bags

Bags stuffed with goods and loot are one of the things that make players look for a vendor or return to the city. It’s good if this coincided with the task of the quest, otherwise, you will have to lose time that could have been spent on leveling. Do not be stingy to spend some of the first coins to buy at least 6-8 slot bag (be sure to check the auction!). This will help you to carry with you the things you need for quick health and mana regeneration, a place for crafting reagents and regular loot that can be sold to a vendor or at an auction.

Consumables

Don’t ignore food and drinks (unless you’re a magician, of course). And even more so, going to the dungeon as a healer or caster without the required amount of water will be at least uncomfortable (and make the group wait until you restore mana). Food, water and potions will significantly speed up the leveling, so do not regret spending money on it in the city or craft it yourself. And bandages will not be superfluous – you can find out how to quickly level up First Aid in our guide.

Addons for Leveling

Questie is an indispensable add-on for those who are not familiar with quests in WoW Classic. It will help track quests, highlight the necessary zones on the map where to find quest mobs or items, and also show you where and which quests you can take.

Guidelime – if leveling seemed too difficult for you, then this addon will come to the rescue. It will show to the smallest detail where and in what sequence to do quests, when it is better to return to the city and where to go to level up at once.

What’s Training – a simple but very useful addon. It will show what spells and at what level will become available, which will help you understand when is the best time to visit a trainer to upgrade skills.

These are the main tips that will help you increase the speed of your leveling in the World of Warcraft classic. If you find it useful, please, share it in your social media.
