Valorant Maps and Callouts Guide

Your success in any shooter depends on three things. The first is your ability to hit the enemy, the second is coordinated team action, and the third is equally important is knowing the map. It is the third point that our new guide to Valorant is dedicated to.

Valorant Weapons Tier List – Best Weapons To Use

Valorant Maps Names

In the closed beta, there were three playable maps. Maybe Riot will surprise us with new ones after the official release of Valorant. But for now, we will tell you about these three we know about. So Valorant maps names are:

  • Haven
  • Bind
  • Split
  • Ascent

Each map in Valorant is unique in its own way. But the goal on each map is the same. Each match is divided into 24 rounds. To win your team must win in 13 no matter in what order. The purpose is to plant or defuse a spike. In the middle of the game on 12th round, teams change sides and the purpose changes as well. If previously you needed to defend the base, now you will attack. Some maps have different opportunities and you need to know how to move via the map in different situations. We will describe each map and give you some positioning tips further.

Valorant Maps Layouts

So before you start your first game have a look at these Valorant maps layouts. At the first sight, you may think they are simple and clear. But pay more attention. Each of the three maps has its particularity. You can see in the mobility of movement on the map. It can be tension ropes, portals or shortcuts. We took layouts from blitz.gg.

Valorant Haven Layout and Callouts

Let’s start with the biggest one. Below you can see the Haven map layout. On the red side start defenders and on the green one attackers. Can you see light red and light green lines? Those are the “gates” that disappear when the match starts. You will have a minute to buy guns and get to the starting point you choose for yourself.

There are three points (bases) where you can plant a spike. Those are A, B, and C. All of them have specific positioning and ways to get to them. It may be a bit easier to defend this point as you can split your team to check where your opponents are trying to get. And after that, you can easily and quickly get to the necessary point. Also, there is a good chance to flank your enemies and strike at back. It may take more time to get there, but the moment of surprise attack can give you an advantage.

As for attacking, it can be tricky. There are several hard places to pass through. One of them is C-long. If your opponents have a sniper you will have troubles in getting there. There is also another way to get to point C via C-short, but there is a double door, where enemies can easily hide and hit you unexpectedly. Almost the same situation is on the way to point A. So the best option may be getting through the B.

Valorant Bind Layout and Callouts

Bind is one of the two maps with a specific way to move around the map. Here you will see portals. They have only one way in, so if you walk through one of them there is no way back. Use them wisely, as everyone can hear you crossing it.

In Bind map, your chance are pretty equal in defence and in attack rounds. The distance to the points is the same and positioning points are almost the same. The only thing you need to do is listen carefully and react to the situation properly.

As for the locations. The winning rate for defenders in Spilt map is almost 70%. That is because of the great opportunities that your team has over the attackers. You can use the ropes to get faster to the location of the other point and choose high positions to shoot better. Also, you can use mid entrance as a flanking shortcut or as a defensive point. Also, defenders have good vision of all bases and corridors. But there are also some hint to overcome it. Read further to learn more.

Valorant Maps Tips

Here you will read some general tips to play better in each map and get advantage over your opponents in any situation.

Haven Tips

As we have already mentioned it is a bit tricky one. And the most sensitive site is B. There are different ways that attackers can get there, but also it is easy to lose control there as well. In any case, the main tips here are the following.

  • Even though you don’t want to put a spike on point B it will be wise to take control over it. As it is located between two other points and gives your team vision advantage and a useful shortcut. Also, pay attention t callouts in voice chat, if anyone says mid in Haven, that will mean B point.
  • Split your team wisely. As there are 3 points and you have only 5 people on your team it will be necessary to take a champion that gives you a vision on of the points and move to the other one instead. For instance that could be Cypher.
  • As we said before there are two good spots for snipers. Those are C long and A long. If you play in defence locate a sniper there. And if you are attacking try to strike from the back.
  • The most frequently used points on the Haven map are A Long, Mid Window, B Site, C Window, C Short (Garage) and C Long.
  • The characters for defence for the Haven map are Cypher and Sage.
  • The characters for attack for the Haven map are Brimstone, Breach, Raze, Sage and Phoenix.

Besides, you can try to obtain spheres for your ultimate. But t they are located in the sniper’s sight that can be a risky task.

Bind Tips

The main uniqueness of Bind map is portals. But you need to use them wisely as it can become your weakness.

  • Ensure vision on points by picking Sova or Cypher on Bind map. Specifically to the most sensitive points like Bath (Showers) and B Short (B Window).
  • As portals work only one way, don’t leave the planting site unprotected. Your opponents may leave the strongly protected point plant the spike on the other site. And you will need to come back quickly and get caught.
  • Also, portals are loud. You can hear when someone enters and when the gates open. So after crossing the portal you have to be careful as enemies may wait for you on the other side. Besides, the gate can be penetrated by bullets, so don’t sit there for too long.
  • The portal leading to B Short (B Window) is a quick and effective way to flank the attackers taking over B point. Also, it is a good spot for a sniper.
  • The most common routes used to launch an attack on Spike A planting site are Bath (Showers) and A Short.
  • The most common routes used to launch an attack on Spike B planting site are B Short (Window) and B Long.

There are also orbs for your ultimate.

Split Tips

Except for ropes this map has another peculiarity. There are two points but there are three main paths to get there. The key is to find the most unprotected sight.

  • As it is easier to defend on Split map, you should keep in mind how are you going to attack. And form a team for both phases.
  • A great thought is to take agents that can blind opponents or that can through bombs over the walls. That will weaken the defensive points.
  • In defence pay attention to the mid path. Put there a sniper to assure that enemies won’t flank you from the back.
  • In attack, try to do your best to control mid. Don’t let sniper kill all your teammates crossing this point and assure that your back is clear if you ignore the mid.
  • The best characters recommended for defence for the Haven map are Cypher and Sage. Also, you can take Sova if you start at point A and fire a vision arrow from the A Rafters and bounce it once from A Main you can give vision to all A Lobby sight.
  • The best characters for attack for the Haven are Brimstone, Breach, Raze, Sage, Sova, and Phoenix.

Split map can be very tricky if you play here for the first time, but if you use our tips you can learn playing here in no time.

Ascent Tips

First of all, learn how to control the door. Even if you are attackers you can use it for your success.

  • But don’t forget to control mid. There are a lot of callouts as well as places where enemies can overcome you. Never leave unprotected or try at least have a vision there. That will let you know about the opponent’s next move.
  • If you attack and mid is well defended don’t rush into it. Try to find the best flank and strike from there unpredictably.
  • Sometimes it worth breaking the door to cancel any unpleasant ambushes.
  • The best characters recommended for defence for the Ascent map are Cypher and Sage. Cypher will give you vision in the paths that you cannot control and Sage can simply block those paths.
  • The best characters for attack for the Ascent are Jett and Omen. Jet can take good high positions and dash through narrow paths and Omen can port through the doors.

Ascent map can seem a bit tricky at first, but if you feel comfortable playing Valornat you will understand what tactics to choose in a few rounds.
