In Elden Ring you can level up by exchanging Runes that you collect from defended monsters. this activity will unlock after you meet Melina for the first time almost at the beginning of the game. Also, your stats are affected by current equipment and active buffs from Magic or items. Your goal is to find the balance between these aspects.
Maximum level and Attribute soft cap
Level is a cumulative figure that represents the overall character and attributes growth. The max level for all stats was 99. After reaching the level cap you can no longer level up any of those stats. The highest level possible, when all eight stats are at 99, is 713.
Attribute soft cap is the point where a certain stat when levelled up will have a diminished return. Every attribute in the game has a soft cap and knowing these can greatly assist with your stat distribution.
