Diablo Immortal like any other free-to-play game has other sources of monetization. One of such things is having two types of Legendary Crests. We have described the difference between Eternal Legendary Crest and Legendary Crest in the previous Diablo Immortal post, but we decided to clarify it once more.
In any case, you use Legendary Crests for the same purpose as Rare and Eternal Legendary Crests to add new modifiers to an Elder Rift and get extra rewards. Rare Crests are easy to understand there is only one type and you get runes in addition to other guaranteed loot. As for the Eternal Legendary and Legendary Crests, there is one specific difference that we describe further.
What is the difference between Eternal Legendary and Legendary Crests?
At the first sight it seems like the same Crest, but Legendary Crests (L Crests) you can get by free means, for example from Battle Pass (it’s a free part), while Eternal Legendary Crests (EL Crests) can be only exchanged for the Eternal Orbs (paid one).
This basic difference leads us to the main difference. EL Crests and L Crests both guarantee that you get a Legendary Gem for clearing the Elder Rift. BUT while L Crests grant BOUND Legendary Gems and you cannot trade them with other players, EL Crests grant you Legendary Gems tradable at the Market.
The Market is where you trade with other players. The currency of the Market is Platinum. This one you can receive for free, but read the linked post to learn more.
How to get a Legendary Crest?
While EL Crests are obtainable only by payable means, Legendary Crests are almost all the times you get for free. But in very small numbers. The only exception when you still get L Crest instead of EL Crests even after the donation is the Empowered Battle Pass.
So the first Legendary Crest you get when you learn how to you the device, is the entrance to the Elder Rift. After that, you will get Legendary Crests from Battle Pass (free and paid).
As you can see in the picture on the left you can also get Legendary Crests by purchasing them from Hilts Trader. This NPC is located in Westmarch in the quarter called Overlook Waypoint. The currency in his market is Hilts, which you can also get for free. But You can buy only one L Crest per month from him.
If you are a member of the Shadow Clan you get Legendary Crests for participating in Shadow Wars.
And the last one is Kion’s Ordeal a specific raid for 48 people available only for players who are an immortal elite or higher.
We will not explain how to use the Elder Rift Device as we have already explained it in Eternal Legendary Crests Guide. In this post, we wanted to explain that there are two different types of Crests that look the same in Diablo Immortal. So that you wouldn’t get confused.
